Hmmm. Interesting. Looks like I don’t have Win98 SE so it won’t let me add this patch. But it’s good to know what is causing the problem. Thanks.

I do have SE on my other computer. Can I install SE on top of the first edition? That would probably solve my problem, right?

Thanks! I’m going to give this a try. My computer manufacturer seems to think the problem with my scanner is caused by my USB ports going south. So they are sending me a new m other board [under warrenty, of course]. If that doesn’t fix it then I will try your suggestions!

      Merc,

Thanks for the lead. I’ve already been to the cursors folder and seen what’s there. I’d like to get a larger animated hourglass and all that is available is the smaller version. Is there a way to increase the size of the small animated hourglass and make it 4X its regular size?

I use EndItAll – it’s great, especially when I need to close down everything prior to do a scan disk or disk defrag. However, you might want to also keep open any firewall software, especially if you have an “always on” internet connection like cable.

      Monika,

I have the HP 5200c and have been experiencing a similar problem to yours. I try to scan and get the message that the software is unable to find the scanner. I’ve uninstalled and installed the software many times but have wondered if there are registry entries not being uninstalled. What did your friend do to remove registry entries? I may want/need to do the same thing?

      What a nifty little utility!

      And it works too!

Thanks, I’ll look at that link.

Why is it [philosophically speaking] that MS designed a feature like adding sound to a web page and only made it possbile for IE to make use of it?

      Just wondering….

      Thanks, Leif.

The file I have to add, that was given to me, is a MIDI.

But midi or not, the box in FP 2000 under page properties where I should be able to add sounds is greyed out. Why is this?

      Thanks Tony!

OK. I set it up as a hyperlink and it works fine.

Of course, now that I have that I’m not happy with it and want to do it differently. Is there a way to display a thumbnail of a pdf file, similar to a photograph, that would get bigger when a visitor clicked on it?

    • in reply to: animate #512791

In Netscape 4.6 [which is what I have] try going to this site to see what I mean.

      http://www.thewashingtonians.org/animate.js

No problem in getting in with IE.

    • in reply to: animate.js #511043

Well! Now it doesn’t come up in IE either. So, don’t go to that site [/www.thewashingtonians.org/]. But I still do have the animate.js problem when I try to add DHTML to my own web page.

    • in reply to: animate.js #511042

I have FP 2000. My compatability settings are for both IE and NS. All the technologies are checked except activex and vbs script.

      I use NS 4.7.

Here is the URL to a site I have visited that exibits the problem I have with NS. See if it doesn’t work for you!
