Ditto what tdhadley67 said. PolitiFact regularly skews their assessments to treat statements made by righties worse than they treat those made by lefties.

Lincoln, today’s “reality” is what you make it be for yourself. Yes, a lot of people do get their news primarily from Facebook or Twitter. That doesn’t mean you have to. The way you opened your article makes it seem like you feel COMPELLED to follow the crowd. Why? That’s lame.

“If Walter Cronkite said it, it was most likely true.” Uh, that’s what we thought at the time, but it was later shown to be not quite so.

I’m not sure this article exactly belongs in Windows Secrets. But aside from that, it’s a good reminder to be skeptical day in and day out.

Lifetime Subscribers: We want to clear up any confusion regarding subscriptions for Windows Secrets Lifetime Subscribers. Your subscriptions are being honored along with your access to the newsletter archives. You will also have an opportunity to sign up for new bonuses and offers going forward.

I wasn’t confused before, but now I AM confused. It was pretty clear before: Penton was stiffing every lifetime subscriber (of which I am not one). Now they say lifetime subscriptions ARE being honored, but they don’t say for how long. Now that’s confusing. I really hate it when a company or a person can’t come out and say clearly what they mean. Are Lifetime subscriptions now back to being LIFETIME subscriptions or not? I think you are reversing a bad decision here, but the way you’re saying it, you’re not going to get due credit for it. Capen needs to come out and say clearly and loudly “Mea culpa, sorry sorry sorry! That was a bad decision on our part. Lifetime subscriptions do NOT expire, and thanks to everyone for their support.” Period.

To Bruce: The audience is tens. I’m looking for the spreadsheet to be presented outside of the streaming video so that the audience can view and hear the stream all the time and then reference the spreadsheet from time to time when they want to.

    • I’m a throwback. I only just upgraded from Win XP to Win 8.1. I carried my old Win XP solution with me to the new PC, and that is Karen’s Replicator. I use it to copy from my internal drive to an external drive on the schedule that I want. It’s not fancy and it has limitations as you have to set up a “job” for each folder tree and there are some other limitations. Nonetheless, it works for me. I like having a back-up set that I can access and restore from simply by using File Explorer. Oh, and it is free.

      Very helpful. Thank you all.

I don’t know about a paddling, but if I found out my kid had intentionally disregarded the limits I had placed on his/her computer use, he/she would find his/her computer privileges revoked until such time as said child agreed to abide by the rules of the household. Once that issue was settled, I would encourage and support my child’s obvious computer-related talents.
