I use both KeePass (at work) and Any Password (at home). I highly recommend both. They are robust freeware programs that do their jobs perfectly. KeePass offers more features and is more refined, while Any Password may be a bit simpler to use. Use either program and you’ll be satisfied.

I switched from NAV to AVG Free Edition 2 years ago and have never looked back. AVG has worked flawlessly…updates smoothly, catches all virus threats thrown at it, small footprint. Works perfectly. Highly recommended.

Thanks, Charlotte. I think your guidance will solve the problem. I assume this will work for the Date text box, also?

Thank you, Charlotte. Are you saying that if I put the ‘Display the Quantity’ text box (the one that’s calculated using DSum) in the header or footer, it will not flicker between records? Currently, it’s in the Detail section of the form and is updated in the AfterUpdate event of the Quantity field. Will it continue to display the correct quantity if it’s in the header or footer?

Regarding the =Now() business, I have a text box in the Detail section of the form with a Control Source of =Now(). It simply presents the current date in Day, Month Date, Year format. Maybe that should also be in the header or footer section to prevent flickering between records?

Are you connected to a LAN? If so, do the machines on your LAN share your modem? If so, is one of the computers on the LAN trying to dial the modem for some reason (automatic update, etc.)? I just ran into this situation when one of my son’s friends connected his PC to our small home LAN and his PC was continually dialing my modem at 20 minute intervals! Very disconcerting. Eventually, I just checked ‘Never Dial an Internet Connection’ on his PC and the problem went away. Just a thought.

You might also try upgrading or reinstalling the onboard sound card driver before you make any other hardware changes. That sometimes does the trick.

You’re right, Leif. I did feel a little wierd even admitting that I went elsewhere for answers, but they were quicker to the punch! I’ll try not to stray so far from home next time!

Got the answer, courtesy of the good folks at PC Magazine. Several answers, actually:

      1. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 257464: Hyperlinks in an E-mail Message Do Not Work
      or
      2. At the Start menu’s Run dialog, enter
      regsvr32 urlmon.dll /u
In the same dialog, then enter
      regsvr32 urlmon.dll
Un-registering and re-registering this DLL often solves this problem.

I hope this helps other folks, too.

I’m not sure what’s happening here, either. My XP system presents only the time in the system tray.

    • in reply to: CD-ROM DOOR #640124

I can’t imagine that a virus would affect how the door on a CD drive operates. I would open your computer, remove the cables from the drive, reseat them, then give it another try. That shouldn’t make a difference, either, but wierder things have happened. You might also consider upgrading your CD drive’s firmware. Check the manufacturer’s web site…they might just have a new version available.

You might also try right-clicking on a file name in the Startup folder…you should see a Delete selection.
