      Hi Jezza,

Apologies for this belated response. I’ve been distracted by another intensive project and have only now gotten back to my dilemma with my new website as detailed in my opening post on this thread.

I’ve followed your suggestions to the letter, and so far so good – it appears to have resolved the messy issues I was experiencing in having another website mixed up with this new one. Hopefully, this is the end of the matter. Thanks a lot for your assistance and wisdom.

      Cheers

You are quite right – I did need to update my Office 2000 suite. I have now done so, and hopefully this will have solved the problem. Thanks a lot for your advice.

Hi again jscher2000. There is some pattern, I guess, because the update box appears when opening some emails and not others, but I haven’t worked out why! Will try to identify any patterns of this problem persists after updating Office 2000.

Cheers, and as always, thanks for your willingness to assist.

THANK YOU LEIF!!! Your instruction was spot on – works a treat.

Now we’re getting over-ambitious, I guess, but do you know of any way to have text accompany the Media Player thingo when it starts playing the song, so you can see some details about the song displayed in text under the player icon while you’re listening to it? On the other hand, you’ve done enough – more than enough – so tell me to @#$!% off if I’ve outstayed my welcome!

      Cheers!

Thanks for your further advice, Leif. Problem is, I don’t know how to upload the MP3 file without using Insert in FP! Can I upload it to my hosted site without using FP to do so – is this what you mean? Sorry about my ignorance here. I’ve learnt a lot through fiddling around with FP for the last year or so, and consulting Idiots Giudes etc, but obviously there are big gaps in my understanding.

(Edited by Leif to make link live – see the quick guide and/or Help 19)

      Leif

I think maybe I need to be looking at linking to .m3u lists, as exemplified by this page: http://www.elisakorenne.com/music.htm%5B/url%5D

Haven’t a clue what .m3u files are, but I’ll Google it, unless you can give me a quick education! Don’t want to take any more of your time if it’s complicated, though.

      Cheers

    • in reply to: inserting MP3 file samples (FP2002 (10.2623.2625)) #981960

OK, thanks Leif – I’ve tried that. When I publish to my host and try out the link to the MP3 file, I get a notice stating: 404 NOT FOUND and a dialogue box underneath stating “The requested URL was not found on this server”. Any idea what is going on here, pls?

    • in reply to: inserting MP3 file samples (FP2002 (10.2623.2625)) #981951

      Leif

When click Insert in FP, locate the MP3 file, then click “open” to try to get FP to insert it on to the web page at the point I want it placed, I get a message telling me that FP “could not load” it. I haven’t even gotten as far as managing to insert it where I want it, let alone previewing it to see if there is any sound.

    • in reply to: inserting MP3 file samples (FP2002 (10.2623.2625)) #981948

Thanks, Leif, but I don’t want to have background sound.

I want to offer samples of songs, so that an interested browser can click on an MP3 sample next to a track listed on a CD I am offering for sale and have a listen. Not streaming, as my host doesn’t support that – just an MP3 file that can be downloaded on the browser’s computer to enable them to have a listen.

      Cheers

Yes Leif, that is my situation. No doubt you’re right – I’m sure I can copy the “local folder and subfolders” to a CD, but – and this is going to sound dumb (cos it is dumb!), I’m not sure exactly which “local folder and subfolders” I need to save. Probably just need to have a good look and make some simple deductions, so thank you!

    • in reply to: pics blurry (2002 (10.2623.2625)) #971048

      Hi jscher2000

I think you’ve probably hit the nail on the head. I noticed the fonts themselves were being “squashed” when uploaded to the net, and had to resize them down, which dispensed with the squashing effect, but the blurring remained. I’ll try saving as GIF or PNG, or resizing the table in which I inserted the banner. I feel sure that one or both of those measures will address the problems. Thanks a lot for your helpful response.

      Cheers

      Ross
