I have to agree 100% with the advice to download IE11 from the MS web site. I’ve tried several times to upgrade an existing IE 8 or IE 9 installation and failed every time. I’ve had 100% success with the downloaded IE11.

I basically agree with all your advice. One thing I am telling users is that if they buy a new PC after the official release of W10 and it has Windows 8 or 8.1, they should immediately upgrade to W10.

Butchcoats was spot on. Booted the DVD, went to Repair, and entered the commands at a command prompt. Viola!
