I tried Accounting — oddly, it works in one worksheet, but NOT in another. Both are in the same workbook or whatever Excel calls a file.

Could something be overriding it in one worksheet??

Thx, but that must be something in newer versions – it is not in mine — Excel 200 (aka 9.0 IIRC).

Yet I see some cells that have that dash so I know it can do it… somehow.

can you tell me what the builtin formats are?

I want the $ and 2 decimals just like the quick format currency style button usually shows – but I’d like to get the zero show not as $0.00 but as a dash.

Thanks but that procedure does not work – I have Creative Suite 2 (CS) — the only option given is to completely uninstall Acrobat – which I need to have — unfortunately.

There are other options for Bridge and “SAVG Viewer” that I did not explore…

or I could try messing with the Registry…. I know that is dangerous but don’t know exactly why.

BTW – this only happened after I installed the Adobe Suite.

Thx for all replies. It appears there is some difference of opinion re the efficacy of registry optimization.

A completely clean install would require a re-format of the C: volume and re-installation of XP. Not gonna do that – the computer in use is too important to risk it – this despite me putting data and applications on other volumes. But some apps force pieces of themselve onto C: no masteer setting the installer to use E:.

I tried a couple of the pgms mentioned but they would not run…. maybe Avira blocks them…

I may try a couple of others.

is there any possibility that removing the driver could make things worse than it is now?

i.e. suppose XP cannot find the driver again?

That web site does not list anything to do with the driver, BTW.

Select All only selects a single page at a time.
