Lack of synching to Outlook is one reason I will not go to a Windows phone. Too bad. I had a Windows phone before and loved it but MS has done a huge disservice to those of us who are not interested in cloud computing and want to synch with Outlook not Hotmail or Windows Live or whatever it is. My BB synchs beautifully. I’ll stick with it.

    • in reply to: Footer: Automatically Update Filename #1177052

You have entered the filename into the document footer as a field. Word only updates fields when you specifically ask it to, or when you print the document (there are some exceptions to this, see MSKB article 211629).

Thanks. At least I know what to do now. Appreciate it!

      Hi, Peggy!

By now you’ve seen my post on WPUniverse about inserting your cursor into the code and pressing F9. The code should update, too, when you print the doc, though that depends on your configuration options.

      Jan

My filename DOES update when I do Print Preview. Is that the ONLY way to get the name to update aside from pressing F9?

I guess I don’t understand why the filename is not updated when I save the file, close it and re-open it.

But thank you everyone for all your help.

Thank you both. I’ll check that out tomorrow when I’m at work. I thought that when I changed the filename the footer would automatically update. Seems strange to me that it doesn’t.

I do know that it doesn’t change when I do a Save As with a new filename, close the file and then re-open it.

      Am I missing something?

    • in reply to: Font Size in Control Box #1172473

Thank you so much, Hans. You are always such a huge help and I appreciate it.

I’ll re-do my combo boxes and get them “right.”

Hans, I re-did my combo boxes and now they are right – thanks to you. Those property boxes are very much like those in Access, aren’t they?

      Thanks again!

    • in reply to: Font Size in Control Box #1172470

If I make a combo box using the Control Toolbox then I can get the properties and that does include FONT. But it does not include font SIZE which is what I was looking for (unless it was called something very different). Did I miss it?

However, I made my combo box using the Form Control and font isn’t even listed in properties.

Which way is better to make combo boxes – Control Toolbox or Form Control?

    • in reply to: Font Size in Control Box #1172460

What exactly is your control box – do you mean a combo box from the Forms toolbar, or a combo box from the Control Toolbox toolbar, or something else?

I made the combo box using the Forms toolbar. I’m new to this so not sure what the Control Toolbox toolbar is – is that what I need to use?

    • in reply to: Stainless Steel vs. Non-Stick #1171211

Daisy mentioned loving glass lids. I am the opposite – I want metal. Glass lids are too heavy. As I get older I find I want lighter weight lids. I use both non-stick and “sticky” pans.

If you want longer lasting non-stick pans, I have a couple from QVC’s lines Cooks Essentials and Techniques and you can use metal utensils on them. Worth a look.

    • in reply to: Unable to delete a mail folder (Office XP Pro SP3) #1154406

See if one of the methods described in Message stuck in Outbox helps.

I don’t understand how to move folders to the “new” .pst. I feel like I’ve missed some vital information.

I looked at the link you provided and #3 was what I think I should be doing but where does the original PST show up so I can move folders from old to new and delete my outbox from the old? At least I assume that is what I should do. Very confused.

      Thanks for your help.

    • in reply to: Unable to delete a mail folder (Office XP Pro SP3) #1154349

You can create a new .pst file, specify it as the delivery location and copy everything you want from the old .pst to the new one. You should then be able to close the old .pst file.

Hans, my boss has this problem too. Only it is with an outgoing message that won’t delete. It sent the message about 60 times before stopping. I’d like to create a new PST file but am unsure about how to do it. Using OfficeXP. Can you help me a bit, please? Thanks!

    • in reply to: Mobile 6 and Outlook ’07 #1126985

I don’t have sub contact folders nor calendars like that, but I just got a smartphone with 6.1on it and everything synched just like I requested.

However, I’m still trying to figure out how to NOT synch my private Outlook contacts to the phone. I’m sure I’m just missing some little thing.

So far I am very impressed. Had a Palm Tungsten and the Windows Mobile seems much better and easier.

    • in reply to: BCC on Sent Messages (Outlook 2007) #1119973

Ah HA! I finally got what you actually said. I hadn’t actually opened the message. I was looking at it in the list view which did show the message. When I double clicked it, the BCC showed up perfectly.

You were right. I was blonde stupidme

    • in reply to: BCC on Sent Messages (Outlook 2007) #1119971

John, perhaps I am misunderstanding what you said. I already sent the message which had BCCs. Now I wish to know who was actually listed in the BCC on that sent mssage.

    • in reply to: Partial Signature (Outlook XP) #1110721

Most definitely he has been experimenting. And it appears he changes many at one time rather than just one to see what it does. So it does get challenging at times. Luckily he’s a really good boss!

    • in reply to: Theme-Unwanted (Outlook XP) #1110720

I believe there is no stationery set. I do know we do not have a theme set there. I’ll have to wait to double check when he comes in next (ah the life of the partially retired!).
