Post question in VB/VBA forum. Worked fine for me.

Microsoft offers a tool called: User Profile Migration Aid.
Personally not used it till now, but sounds helpfull.

      Sam,
I’m overwhelmed . You’re absolutely right, the PPT object model is a mess. I’m used to Word and Excel, where many things related to VBA are much simpler to figure out.

      I gratefully appreciate your support

      Thanx alot.

Even though I’m not an expert on VBA I would take a look at the Windows Scripting Host (WSH). Maybe the object model of WSH contains ways to query/set printer properties.

    • in reply to: PPT2K displaying doc_properties on master slides #528452

Sam, thanx a lot. This detailed answer to my unspecific question (putting the blame on me 😉 is very helpfull because indeed I need text boxes and footers on all kind of master master pages. Inspired by your examples it should be possible for me to figure out how to update a field on a title- or notes-master.

May be it’s a stupid question: where do I call the Code ???

Is it OK to place a text box on the master and call the subroutine from their data property (how ?). Or do I have to place a “Update fields” button to the master to get the subroutines run on demand.

I would prefer a solution, where the fields would be updated automatically when a presentation is opened and/or saved.

I’m a VBA newbie. Sorry for asking simple questions.

      Thanx a lot,
      that’s what I’ve done.
Microsoft confirmed today, that there is a problem in Win2K loosing all signatures.

    • in reply to: Lost Hibernate and Suspend #524292

Having the same problem and couldn’t fix it until know. I’ve run sigverif, as you recommended, but it displays all drivers as unsigned (163 out of 164, even the Ms HAL).
      Any suggestions ???

    • in reply to: Date trouble in Win 2000 Server #524287

Don’t worry about the BIOS. It’s not relevant, as long as you personally don’t get confused. wink

Did you set up the local settings correctly (Menu Settings>ControlPanel>RegionalOptions).

If yes, it might be a problem with Crystal reports.

    • in reply to: Visio 10 MKT Beta #524284

Never, really never, install Microsoft Betas on a production machine. In the worst case you may be forced to reformat your drive and reinstall the operating system. If you can’t resist, add a second partition/disk for dual boot. Saved my life several times.

    • in reply to: Visio #524282

      Menu File>Stencils>Annotation>Title_Blocks
This stencil contains anything usefull for creating tables. But the user has to assemble the table by himself.
Dunno, if their are more sophisticated tools available.

    • in reply to: photo editor configuration #524280

What are your NT/Win2k user previleges?
PhotoEditor needs at least PowerUser. Their was an older MsTechnet Article, but it disappeared.

Add your userid to the local group PowerUser. That worked for me.

BTW: this is typical Microsoft . Sometimes I think, they do not use their own products and the software designers are from the moon and never worked for a real company with daily business. shrug

    • in reply to: Document attached to wrong template #524265

Just a little tip for your conversion:
Avoid absolute pathnames in applications as much as possible because of all these ramifications. Ask your Win2K administrators to set up a DFS filesystem with logical mountpoints hiding the physical location of the templates.

    • in reply to: Convert languages? #524263

      Geoff,
you’re absolutely right and I can confirm your experiences.
My posting was thought as a funny remark about translation engines and their capabilities.
In this sense: the german translation of your reply is really funny as you might guess from the result of the backward translation into english.
BTW: I guess, you’re spanish is better than my english! laugh
      Cheers, Peter

    • in reply to: Convert languages? #524252

Just a little remark from a german:
The translation of the first sentence into german was not that bad. The second sentence is bogus, because the phrase “Word plug-in” is a technical term not part of the common english vocabulary (even if we techies think so :-).
If I would ask my sister(english teacher, but she has no clue about computers at all) about a Word plug-in, she would stare at me with a blank gaze or a shy smile in her face.
Translating bogus back to english results in bogus**2.

    • in reply to: Word – Custom Colors #1782375

      Word2000 on Win2K
I want to change the colors in the colorpicker popup to look similar to the one we’ve customized in Excel to have a common look&feel across Office2000 applications.
