No. It appears to allow you to limit access to specified accounts and if they are password protected at login you can control which account can use the printer which was what I wanted. See link in Martins post.

It’s one standalone PC with printer connected via USB currently on Windows 7

Great to see a free upgrade for Windows 7 but will Windows 10 upgrade 7 in place or is it a complete start again? Also will my perfectly serviceable Office 2007 including Outlook & Access continue to work? I hope so because as a home user the new versions are expensive!

I’m referring to Java from Java.com – version 8 update 25. I’m sure the error message referred to Java script but now all is working I clearly can’t check it. Sorry for any confusion.

Thanks for the feedback. I started to try out Skydrive for backing up my photo’s – 25Gb is enough (so far!). I have my photos organised how I want them but as photos don’t change I guess I can cope with just the basic upload although I’ve yet to find out how to download them. I’m also having a look at “Mozy” which has been recommended – 2Gb free.

Thanks guys. Booted up this morning and the missing drive has returned although I’ve changed nothing! The mystery remains.
AutoRun is OFF. What I’m refering to is the AutoPlay dialog which normally only pops up when you plug in a new drive or CD and others you a choice of actions. e.g. Open with explorer or play music etc. Just cann’t see why this occassional pops up at random.

Many thanks for the reassurance. The PC in question is at my church so next time I’m there & it’s not Sunday I’ll do it

    • in reply to: Windows Updates Fail to install #1278733

Problem solved!! I spoke to my local friendly support engineer and it seems he has seen this problem quite a lot in the last couple of weeks. The solution was boringly simple. Just install each of the 5 updates one a time, took a while with two restarts but the result was problem solved.

I’ve been using a free utility from DesktopOK for over a year now – http://www.softwareok.com/?seite=Freeware/DesktopOK – it will save & restore on demand and if you switch resolutions you can save for each one.

As a follow on from my first post to which there were sadly no replies I was looking for something else and came across a Microsoft Office 95 CD. So my new question is as can I install PowerPoint 95 from this without giving either Windows 7 or MS Office 7 hysterics? Your advice appreciated.
