This is not related to a phone call. It was an effort to install Adobe Flash Player on my PC although I already have it installed. Now I would like to know how to update it without inviting a Scam.

I have had some attempts to install Adobe Flash Player and my antivirus thwarted the attempt. I Googled Adobe Flash Player and it appears there is a scam. Anyone know about this?

I select only Important Updates and never Recommended Updates. Still when I go to the list of downloaded Updates there are a number of Recommended Updates also installed.

Just how important are Recommended Updates to the efficient operation of Win 7 Prof?

Is Snagit a proven safe website?

I played around with the file as it was an obit from the newspaper with text and a graphic. I did not keep track of my steps! I found a way to shrink the file and then was able to copy it as a jpeg file.
      Thanks for the tips.

Thanks Phelps and Harder. I found the Snipping Tool was not effective as it does not allow one to scroll down; unless there is a trick I’m unaware of it captures only what one can see at the moment.
With respect to online tools I’m wary of using something that is not tried and true. Still searching.

I discovered, much to my chagrin and embarrassment, that I was using a CD for a previous version of my Canon scanner. Sorry to take the time of those who responded. Mea culpa.

It works but I’d really prefer to install my OmniPage OCR where I don’t have to go to a website.

Is there one which is safe, in your view, and does not come with junk?

    • in reply to: OmniPage SE #1543880

Yes, that was it. If that didn’t work try Right-Clicking the file and selecting Run as Administrator.

      HTH

Tried that also with the same results as described in original post.

I’m not certain if I know exactly what you mean. I have gone to Win Explorer and clicked on the Omnipage File and attempted to install it; possible that is what you intend.

    • in reply to: External Hard Drive #1537033

I just backed up the system and it took 7 minutes. I bought My Passport Ultra with 1 TB capacity. now I read on http://www.cnet.com/products/wd-my-passport-ultra-spring-2015/2/
that quote: “You can’t backup the entire system, either, to restore in case you need to replace the hard drive of the computer.”

Does that mean I can’t restore from the External Drive in case of a Hard Drive failure?

Also, is it possible to boot from the External drive? I have Win Prof 7.

    • in reply to: External Hard Drive #1534750

Thanks for all the tips. I bit the bullet and bought a new external hard drive. It has USB 3.0 capability and there is a compatible jack on the back of my Dell PC. I also upgraded to Casper 8. This am during breakfast my entire internal HD was backed up instead of taking a couple hours.

Now I have to purchase a new USB 3.0 cable as the one that came with the new external drive is abysmally short. Oh well, it’s just money.
