My friends laptop is doing something strange. The libraries exist when you go to them via the the side pane but when you click the main libraries button is just shows the new library icon (if that). I’m going to do some scans see if there’s a virus on the machine (I’m not the primary maintainer of the machine but I’ve been helping her with math work lately and since it’s all online I’m using her machine).

Edit: Forgot to mention specs: It’s a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 with SP1.

I found this happened to my Win 7 libraries as well. The solution is to delete all the libraries from the main right hand window, this will not delete any files.
Then on the left hand pane where all the libraries and drives are located, right click Libraries and click on Restore Default Libraries.
This will the rebuild all the Libraries and all your files will be visible again.

The only instance where I have seen it if the DST patches were not correctly or fully applied to both a server and workstation. In Australia we extended DST and a new patch was released, but in some instances this needs to be re-applied annually. It may be worth checking if the patches are still being applied.
