AskWoody LoungerI am relatively sure that my mobo is capable of running windows 7 but I will double check with ASUS. And no I am not running a 32 bit CPU. I have a 64 bit CPU otherwise I would not even attempt to install a 64 bit version of windows 7. I will update the BIOS on my CPU as well as see if there are any updates to my AMD chipset that I might need. I will let you know where this gets me. Still if anyone has other ideas I would like to here them. This is frustrating. Though I am thinking about doing a full rebuild here sometime soon.

AskWoody LoungerWell Asus came out with an updated BIOS. 1011. It fixes the Hypertransport sort of but not fully. You can now turn it up to X2

AskWoody Loungeroh man thats some good stuff. Bet they tasted fantastic

AskWoody LoungerYes I am on the administrator account. I want to disable the onboard LAN because it isn’t inuse and the icon with the X on it as well as the pop-ups that say a network cable is unplugged get on my nerves.

AskWoody LoungerI’ll take a look at those sites and see what I can find. I also have no doubt that my graphics card can support the resolution. No doubt as all. Thanks for input.

AskWoody LoungerWell right now I’m playing World of Warcraft and check the frame rates often to make sure things are running well. On a general basis I run about 70 to 75 fps.

AskWoody LoungerThats what I do. Hate leaving a thread like this open with no solution. This way I can also point to others a place to look. With no fix on the horizon I just got the new board and it works like a dream.

AskWoody LoungerOk here is the official word. The nVidia nForce4 X4 chipset is the only nForce4 set to have problems. If you have nForce4 SLI or nForce4 x16 then it will run with the ATI PCI-E cards no problem. However, there is a minor fix you can do with the nForce4 X4 chipset. If you set the Hyper Transport to X1 instead of having it at X4 then you can run whatever and it will not crash. It’s a quick fix but still reduces performance slightly. I went ahead and got a new board with the ATI Radeon 200P Xpress chipset. So far I have had no issues with it and it works great.

AskWoody Loungerok an update for you guys. I went ahead and ordered a new motherboard. I talked with ASUS and it is a known problem with that board but they aren’t planning on a fix for some time yet so I decided to cut my losses on that and get a new board. Of course I will use the one I have now for a new computer so it doesnt go to waste but I’ll put an nVidia in that one. Anyway just wanted to let you guys know that the nForce4 chipset is at the moment not compatible with ATI cards from the X300 to the X1900. At least as far as my understanding has been from what I’ve discovered

AskWoody LoungerWell I have discovered what I think my main problem is. From my understanding working around the forums on the ASUS site to see if any others have had a similar issue or not. Anyway it seems anyone using the K8N4-E Delux mohterboard with the nForce4 chipset on it are having problems with ATI cards from the X300 to the X1900. Same kind of thing. Always with games or applications using 3D acceleration and a few other things. So apparently my problem is extending more from my mobo than anything else that I could discover. Can’t ATI and nVidia just get along once in a while?

AskWoody Loungeryeah my enermax 550 does great. If it was the Power supply I wouldn’t see why it would only have these issues with DirectX games. Of course I do know that ATI and Microsoft have had there compatibility issues for quite some time. Might try downloading an earlier driver set and seeing if that could be the issue.
-
WSNight
AskWoody LoungerWell Mark I am using a pretty decent 550 power supply. So I hope its not that. What kind of Power Supply do you run? Also I’ve run dxdiag many times and it says everything is good to go. Also I have all the most up to date drivers for both DX and the ATI card.
