Skeetre, there is a free Calendar Sync from Google, but that limits you to only syncing to your main Outlook calendar. Other software, like the one I mentioned above, can sync any Google Calendar to any Outlook calendar (plus contacts). There is other middleware software, but the clients have to be on a network, and it appears to cost a little more; the plus would be speed. The last option is to use an offsite Exchange Server service, which usually charge a per month/client charge. All options have their plus and minuses!

If by ‘Sharing you mean Calendars and Contacts as well as shared email accounts, etc., you may be able to use Gmail Accounts, then a program like gSyncit to Sync the calendars, notes, email, and tasks. About 20 per person for the license. You can Google other Outlook Sync programs and see it there is something that is better suited, but perhaps that will point you in the right direction!

      Hi John,

Assuming Outlook 07 or 10, open your appt, and on the Appointment tab in the Options group click the “Dialog Box Launcher”, the small arrow at the very bottom right of the group. That will open the Reminder Sound for when a reminder comes due. Browse to you favourite WAV file!

I would add a number of email addresses to you account. I would hand those out to “wanted” advertisers, and then create a server based rule that applies on message arrival with YourNewEmail@domain.com in the message header and move it to the Advertisement folder. Based on the email address, you could make a few rules for different situations. I have a few ‘throw away’ ones that I just delete when I don’t need them (or use 10 minute mail if it is a quick verification)

Pretty easy to setup, low maintenance = Elegant

      Hope that helps!

      Cheers,

Same. You have two unread items in you calendar, possibly calendar items added from a web page. You can right click the calendar icon and mark them all as read if you want…

Open the appointment on your calendar and check the meeting responses and make sure she is accepted (and has not deleted without sending response). If she is, check her calendars and make sure the default calendar is showing, as this is where meetings are placed. She may have made a new calendar and ‘unchecked’ the default calendar.

    • in reply to: Calendar 2010 colors #1294576

Outlook 2010 does not let you change the background color to just white. You can change the default background color under File-> Options -> Calendar -> Default calendar color (15 colors to choose from), or on the fly using categories (25 to choose from), but none of them are white.

    • in reply to: Synching Outlook 2010 with iPhone 4 #1294571

Outlook Tasks do not sync with iTunes/iPhone. You need a third party app for that, like TaskTask, Todo, Toodledo, or Smart Tasks 4, to name a few!

    • in reply to: Opening attachments in Outlook automatically #1273970

This is the UAC kicking in. There are reg entries you can make to change this, but perhaps the easiest is to run Outlook as an Administrator, open the attachment, and you should be able to uncheck the box. You’ll have to do this for each extension type you want to automatically open.

    • in reply to: Create Distribution List #1273582

In short, select the email addresses in Excel, Press Ctrl-c to copy them, Open outlook and create an new distribution list (or contact group), Give the contact group a name in the Name: field (this is NOT where the email addresses go!)

Now, click Add Members -> From Address Book. Where it says Members-> Right-Click and Paste. Click Ok and all the addresses will be listed. Save and close!

    • Windows uses the information set in the control panel under ‘Phone and Modems’ to determine the default area code. Outlook will always add this area code if only seven digits are entered. If you were using the system for calls, you can also setup dialing rules with which prefixes require the area code and which do not.

As you just want to know whether to dial the area code or not, I would fool the system by entering a comma before any ‘local’ 7 digit number, then Outlook will not add the area code. The phone number will now show up as ,555-1234 which should work for your purposes.

      Hope that helps,

Found one – iProRecorder for 2.99

I threw the small free program ‘Everything’ from http://www.voidtools.com onto our server, and then under the options had it autostart a ETP/FTP server. Now on my PC I can run ‘Everything’ and under the tools menu connect to the Everything running on the server.

If you make a shortcut you can add a command line search. IE “C:Program Files (x86)EverythingEverything.exe” -search *.tmp|*.??$|*.temp

Now if I double click the icon, connect to the server I’m instantly shown every file with the extension tmp, temp and any three letter extension ending in $

Because the UNC is displayed for the files, you can delete them or move them right from the Everything window.

Works great and is INSTANT. I mainly use this for quickly finding files among 100’s of thousands users have misplaced but recall part of the file name, but would work for your purposes, too.

      Cheers,

      Nathan

    • in reply to: Windows update does not start download #1232301

Could also be a piece of Malware causing the issue. Had someone bring me a laptop the other day, even if you typed windowsupdate into a Google Search the page wouldn’t load. Laptop was infected with a root kit virus, which took a few different tools to squash.

      1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to launch the “Run” dialog box.
      2. Type in control userpasswords2
      3. Press Enter. The User Accounts window will display.
      4. Uncheck the option “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer”
      5. Click “OK”
      6. You will then be prompted to enter the current password and confirm it.
      7. After doing so, you will no longer be prompted to enter your password on startup.

If you logout, or press Win+L to lock your PC, you will still need to type the password, so don’t set it and forget it!

      Cheers,

      Nathan
