      Thank you Susan.

I have been offered a few patches that have not shown up in Patch Watch and would like to know if I should install them.

Apart from KB3101558 (MS Compatibility Pack SP3) which I installed I’m offered KB3085551 (also MS Compatibility Pack SP3).

      Others are:
      KB3101555 MS Office 2007 suites.

Also as mentioned above KB3098781 .NET Framework 4.5, 4.5.1 and 4.5.2.

I agree, I too have been using Revo Pro for a number of years.

But do be careful with it, always look at what it is about to delete/modify.

A few years back when I had Open Office installed I used Revo Pro to delete an unrelated program. None of the Open Office components worked after that so I re-installed. The penny didn’t drop.
A few weeks later, uninstalling another unrelated program, this time a traced program I decided to use Custom Uninstall. To my surprise it displayed pages of registry entries relating to Open Office which it wanted to delete.

Now that I’m paranoid I tend to instal programs with Revo Pro, uninstall them using Windows 7 Programs and Features and then use Revo Pro to get rid of anything remaining using at first Custom Uninstall to check things before using Uninstall in Traced Programs.

    • I find it a bit disconcerting that nobody has commented.
I feel the same way about this. I bought and installed v7 because I am an avid Firefox user.
The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was when I found out that Roboform 7 took up memory when it was not in use. By that I mean even after I closed all my browsers it was still showing in Windows Task Manager (the latest updates apparently do not). When I brought this to the company’s attention it was a case of tough luck that’s the way it’s designed.
I did get my money back and was able to re-install Roboform6 though I did lose a few AUD on the exchange rate. Also went back to Firefox3.

These antics also raise the question why doesn’t it work with FF4. Is Firefox also to blame for that? Or did the Roboform people put in a line of code in Roboform 6 so that it wouldn’t work with newer versions of Firefox? Could it be a bit of both?

Unfortunately Roboform isn’t the only program out there that prides itself on misleading their customers, I had similar treatment from the Mailwasher Pro people. These disreputable companies know that people are more likely to buy their software if it is offered with lifetime upgrades.

I keep financial data iin excel files that I modify frequently as data changes. I prefer to keep the data off my C drive , as it might be accessible to others.

If it is convenient you may try using Truecrypt to secure your data on the C drive to stop prying eyes.
You can then back up the container that stores your data when you feel like it to wherever.

      For what it’s worth.
      When you connected to the internet can we assume that;
1)All other computers were switched off.
2)You connect to the internet with only the modem connected (assuming modem and router are separate otherwise ignore this) and went through its set up procedure.
3)You then connected the Router and went through its set up procedure.
4)You then connected/turned on the other (networked) computers.

Could the problem be with Windows 7 trying to take over or interfering, by default Windows 7 wants to setup a Homegroup, for which you need Windows 7 on the other computers.
