    • in reply to: How to Customize Synonym List (Word 2003) #1049234

We have our own list of words that we want to exercise caution over their use primarily because they can create difficulties in a legal situation because they are too ambiguous. An example would be the word “Supervise”. Word does have some synonyms for “supervise” but we have 2 or 3 alternatives that we want our staff to consider. I’ve created an autotext for each of the problem words that automatically formats them as they are typed to highlight that the word may be a problem. The writer either replaces them or else uses a small macro to apply the “normal” style to the word if he/she wants to use the word anyway.

We want an easy way to select an alternative of our choosing to the problem words. I would not know how to write a macro that could do this for each of the 100 or so words that we are concerned about.

      Thanks. Perfect solution!

I think I’m struggling with the same issue. I’ve created a custom form for my contacts but it only seems to apply on NEW contacts and I’m unable to get the existing contacts to open in the new form. Further to that I thought I would export the contacts and then import them in to the new form however on import the import map only opens up the fields from the default form and in fact only imports into the default form.

What I did do is right click on the Contacts Folder and go to Properties, General and selected my new form. This assigns the new form for new contacts, but apparently not if you import or copy to the folder.

I think you are at the same place as me. I noticed your note is a couple months old so please let me know if you have discovered anything since.

      Thanks,

      Frank

Fantastic!! Works like a charm. Since I have many I need to do I’ve added a crossreference button to my tool bar and I can fly at it. Thanks a million!

I’ve downloaded your document but still cannot get one Word form field to update from another if there is text in the source field. I’ve tried all the following in the destination field (all with the destination field being a calculation) =”text1″ ; =[text1], =[“text1”] etc.. Still cannot get the destination field(s) to update when I input into the source fields.

In the first four fields I’ve labeled the fields “Enter TeamA Team Name” etc. I was hoping that by putting the team name in those fields the fields below would populate with the text I entered. Try it with numbers and it works beautifully, but I can’t get it to work when I enter text.
I’ve downloaded the Word file from Macropod but am still not able to get it to work. confused3
