      Control Panel -> Personalization -> Desktop Icon Settings
      I’ve been there, done that, restored the can! 🙂

      Thanks everyone for your responses. I wanted to know if doing a “system restore to factory conditions” was a viable way of getting rid of malware/viruses. I appreciate your responses and will try out one or more of the programs suggested by Sudo 15.

      Yes, I have been thinking about a larger main drive, but after reading what everyone has written, I am satisfied that the 68% free space is sufficient. I will keep a watch on the free space and develop a robust backup strategy.
