      Big Al,

I checked the task mananger…and do so on a regular basis, to kind of keep tabs on memory etc, all appears well the task manager and with Norton. Believe I’ve narrowed it down to my enhanced dial up ISP s/w; from time to time it locks or consumes +80% of cpu time, this necessitates a uninstall – install cylce, then all is ok for 2-3 days. This appears to be an unrelated purely ISP/windows problem, and to the Canon platten scanner which is in close proximity to the LCD monitor and mouse/keyboard. I have unplugged the scanner with no problem thus far. Is this is the culprit, I’lll try to physically relocate the scanner. Wait its impssible to have a problem with any MS product…right??? I’ve given some thought to replacing with a similar Ltech product. Thanks for your input!

Could be, I’m running XP, with 06″ Norton System works, thought that this was a contributing factor, so I waited for the Norton to complete its initilazation and check out of all programs during log on, it seems to be happening after this period as well. If this is the cause, is it wise to disable all or some portion of Norton 06′?

      Thanks Al

      Carla,

In a broader sense, how do you become a three star lounger, moderator or administrator, how do you earn your bars or stripes??

      Carla,

Choices, choices….so many choices. While viewing Detail Gantt, where or how do you view the number slipped days. Pointing the cursor to the slipped line the info box shows baseline start actual start but not the total number of days slipped. Is this info available?? Searching the site proved fruitless

      Doc,

By the way….what do you make of the win2k system tools, backup recovery tools wizard/option, that basically doesn’t do the job?

      Thanks Doc….

This satisfies me near term, but I guess I’ll have to purchase something more extensive to b/u all my HD contents. Any recommendations?

      Carla,

Thanks for the responses….it appears that the trick is knowing which views to utilize from the many available. What I find odd is that after you have established a baseline you can easily change that baseline, for example via the detail gantt…..it appears that you have many baselines at your disposal, the key is to keep track of which baseline is which.

      Thanks again…

      Carla,

Thanks for the input…..oddly enough after saving my baseline and updating tasks/project…with slipped progress, I do not get a numerical value in the start or finish variance columns of the schedule nor are slipped tasks reflected in the right hand portion of the schedule….obviously must be doing something wrong with regards to establishing baseline and updates…

      Regards,
      Marty
