Thanks guys. After much searching it turns out that the problem was caused by SP2 update. The bios on the Sony Vaio was incompatable and needed to be updated with several other software fixes. The problem is highlighted on Sony Vaio’s support pages.

I’ll give it a go. It’s such a large file that maybe I’ll re edit and link the graphics as you suggested (some 500 of them).

Windows 98 SE. I don’t often use Excel, so can’t comment on that. Up to now it’s only occuring on one document (105 pages with many graphics & an index). This document uses Times New Roman font. It did occur to me the document may have some corruption in it.
