    • “Another keyboard”…
I have noticed that when I need to “F8” to get into Safe Mode, I have to plug in an old direct keyboard first – as a USB keyboard isn’t recognized until halfway through the boot process!

    • My Firefox works just fine with Win 10. It was an update download from M/S. In fact, the only problem I’ve seen so far is the audio driver won’t update. I’d definitely get another d/l of Win 10.

Besides being careful about “check-boxes”, I use a program called EULAyzer. It reads the “Terms”that you have to approve before it will install. This program analyzes the “Terms”, and points out any “Interesting” things that you can’t see unless you read the WHOLE “Terms”! I have found some interesting things that some of these ask for! That way you MAY not want the program to install!!!

For simplicity, I merely contacted Comcast and had them put my new P.O.S. into “Bridge mode”. Then hooked up my good old D-Link router.

As for the battery problem, I simply plug the new unit into my UPS!

Tried an Acronis backup from my ext. drive. Didn’t work. Experimenting with a ” clone” copy drive. Started with a clean install of Win 7. Ran fine. Installed the Acronis backup – won’t even boot to a “blue screen”!

I’ve been fighting exactly the same problem! During months of troubleshooting, I have changed every board, memory, and CPU. Playing with the CPU’s,I suddenly lost one of the dual cores. I replaced the CPU – same thing. However, it HASN’T locked up since! (2 months) Except it is VERY slow now. Working on how to change mobos with win 7. Win 7 doesn’t like changes such as this! Is there any way to put this Win 7 hard drive in a different computer, without a complete reinstall? I have years of files that I don’t want to lose!

When I upgraded to Win 7, after years of the other Windows O.S.’s, I merely Installed a new SATA for the Win 7 O.S. and set my old IDE (with all of the old programs), as a slave. Create DeskTop icons pointing to the the programs on the old drive, and all of my old programs are accessible! I’ve found very few that won’t work under 7.
