Another way (in W97), Envelopes/Options/Font, select the font you want then click the Default button in the bottom left corner.

I asked this in the old Lounge and the answer was no, but once you have changed to columns/values it stays that way until you close XL.

If you delete an .xlb file XL creates a replacement when you shut down XL. The file name is based on the version of XL and the username, eg mine is Mike8.xlb (for some reason XL97 adds the number 8 to the name). If you have not deleted your .xlb file but have added a button to a toolbar or altered a custom list (not sure about right click menus), when you close down XL it will overwrite your existing .xlb file with a new one containing the changed toolbars etc.

Sure you can copy an .xlb file from another machine and see if it works, just copy it to a directory other than XLstart, and open the new xlb from XL. BUT FIRST make a copy of your existing .xlb file because if you don’t you have lost it; when you close XL it will save whatever settings it is currently using and use those when you open XL next time. It is very easy to get caught in this way and it is a good idea to make a copy of your preferred xlb file as soon as you can so you can always go back to it.

In XL97 the formatting facility in the Import Data Wizard is also available in the Text to Columns Wizard (Data menu), so you should be able to use it on the spreadsheet you have been given. Just select the column you want to reformat then activate the TTCW.

Yep I should have remembered that, duplicate entries came up in the old Lounge and Chip Pearson’s site was recommended.

Gosh is this new Lounge active, by the time I’d read through the newbies on offer there were two emails responding to my suggestion. Do you guys do anything but monitor the Lounge?

Gene, a manual inspection of 15000 rows? Yuk!

Do a sort on the three columns as you suggest, then (assuming row 1 contains headers) in cell E2 put the formula:
=IF(AND(A2=A1,B2=B1,D2=D1),1,0). Next fill down to the end of the data, then replace the results with values only. The first occurence of duplicate entries now has a 0 in column E, the other copies have a 1. Sort on column E and delete the entries with 1 in column E.

Will copying the December worksheet and doing a Paste Special/Values (then maybe a Paste Special/Format) do what you want?
