AskWoody LoungerSeptember 18, 2009 at 9:34 am in reply to: Access 2007 – Can't figure out the relationships or something #1177830Well good grief. Yes, it does work, THIS MORNING! I swear, for days it has been giving me errors. But, maybe just compacting/repairing it to prep it for sending to you fixed that. So ok. Gulp.
One more question though. When I create a report to list each person’s action items, the responsible person field only shows their ID number, not their name. When I run the query that the report is based on, I see their names. What am I missing (besides, apparently, my brain.. lol)?

AskWoody LoungerThank you, Hans. I started out being consistent! I promise! But, I got so confused with the code that I started renaming things. Anyway, it works now. Thank you so very much, once again.

AskWoody LoungerThank you, Hans. Where would I put this code? In a new Word doc and make it a macro?
-
WSMelanieB
AskWoody LoungerI looked at that, Hans. But you have to open the ppt file for it to work. We want to find the files in Windows Explorer, right-click on them and have them print the handouts.
The person asking for this has a bunch of files to print and he doesn’t want to open them individually.

AskWoody LoungerThat looks great. I sent it to the coworker who was asking for it. Thank you so much. And, thank you for including the instructions. That helps me learn how to do this on my own next time.

WSMelanieB
AskWoody LoungerThat did work, Hans! Thank you. I was trying the advanced filter, but I couldn’t get it to work. I think I was doing it backwards. It worked with your instructions.

AskWoody Loungercolumn A

WSMelanieB
AskWoody Loungeruh.. duh.. I knew about that setting, but I somehow neglected to actually read where it said DEFAULT settings above the current worksheet setting so I kept selecting the current worksheet setting and not the default. Jeessh… never mind. Thank you for your patience with my inane questions. =) I’m going to slink back to my desk now.

AskWoody Loungerok thanks! Must be something else.. I’ll try another pc.

AskWoody LoungerHans. Your code flips the worksheet when it is done so that the summary sheet has column A to the far right. I know how to go to options and change it. But, how do I add that to the code so it doesn’t flip it?

AskWoody LoungerI just looked at that book. Do you know if VBA is the same for Excel 2007? We’re still on 03, but we plan to move to 07 by the end of this year, so I’d like to make sure I’m not struggling to learn something obsolete.
Thanks.

AskWoody LoungerThank you. I had forgotten about that site. And,yes, you’re right. This board is the best place to learn!

AskWoody LoungerWow. Thank you both so much. I just took my first intro to VBA class last week. It was about 6 hours long, and everything he said made sense when I was there, so I was hoping I could figure this out on my own. But, I had NO idea where to even start. It’s like my brain freezes up whenever I think about it. And, now that I have seen the code you both provided.. well I just never would have figured this out.
Am I doomed to be forever code illiterate? Do you have any suggestions?
Again, thank you both so much. I hope that by studying this code I will be able to learn something. I think I need to spend more time in the VBA thread.
Oh.. Hans. Your code flips the worksheet when it is done so that the summary sheet has column A to the far right. I know how to go to options and change it. But, how do I add that to the code so it doesn’t flip it?

AskWoody LoungerI’m also playing with getting it into a pivot table, but I’m having a problem getting the calculation for the delta to work. I know how to add a calculated field to the table, but I don’t know how to construct the formula correctly. I’m not sure he will want a pivot table, but if I get it to work, maybe he’d like it. I don’t know. Just throwing ideas out.
Thanks.

AskWoody LoungerThanks anyway.
