OK so maybe not so mysterious after all. Thanks a lot. It would have taken me forever to find that.

Thank you! Because I have a lot of transitions like this, I’m interested in the other solution listed there — using a macro to reset the slide. Do you happen to know if there is a way to get a macro to automatically run when a slide is entered (or exited)? I can only find ways to use macros based on mouse actions.

    • in reply to: how to make pie chart from a list? (2003 SP1) #987262

Is there a way to sort the pivot table? Right now my data looks something like:

      A 2
      B 5
      C 1
      D 12

I’d like it ordered by the total. If I right click on the field, there is an Order option where I can move the order one by one but is there a way to sort the entire table at once?

      Thank you.

Nevermind, I found the refresh button. Thanks.

      That worked beautifully, thank you.

By the way, when I modify the original data, the pivot table & chart doesn’t change. Is there a way to perform a refresh so that the changes are reflected? Or do I need to recreate from scratch?

    • in reply to: How to use specific ethernet connection? (6.0 / SP1) #831022

Thanks! But to complicate matters a bit, what if I want to connect to machines over the dial-up network via telnet but want web browsing ability over the LAN? Is that possible?

    • in reply to: IE reinstall problem; how to remove patch? (XP/SP2) #825050

I haven’t had time to try your various suggestions yet but to answer your questions.

I was trying to replace IE / OE with Japanese versions of the same. When I failed I thought well the Japanese version doesn’t work so I’ll just try to reinstall English version and ended up with the same issue.

As for going back to a restore point part of the problem is ignorance with how the process works and also because, at first, I wasn’t trying to get back to the initial state. Also if I did restore back, wouldn’t that wipe out all programs we’ve installed since we got the machine?

      Lightning storm… gotta go. Thanks.

Thanks for your help. I don’t know if I’m running SP2, I just noticed “SP2” in the registry and jumped to conclusions. How can I tell definitively? It’s a brand new Sony VAIO.

They didn’t give me any CD’s. Just a pre-installed machine and some supposed way to restore the machine when/if necessary. I’m not really comfortable with this method of software management. 🙁
I’ll search for the CN_ file and see if it’s on the hard drive somewhere.

I saw the reference to $NTUninstallQxxxxxx$ in the KB document but I didn’t understand how to interpret it (the $—$ refers to a user-supplied value then?). I’ll do a search for NTUninstall and see what I come up with.

I’ll let you know what I find out. Thanks again.

Thanks I will check them out. I didn’t realize there was a whole networking forum here. Hopefully I will get this thing working in no time.

    • in reply to: IE and Auto Complete (IE 6.x) #703372

I never knew about the delete trick. I’m very glad I happened to take a look in here. I’ve got tons of mistakenly-entered auto-complete entries that annoy me on a daily basis.

That reminds me of another question I’ve been wondering for years but never got around to asking…
How does one go about deleting all autocomplete data? Is there an easy to delete them similar to how you can delete all cookies simply by deleting all cookie files?

    • in reply to: Big Problems (Netscape 6.2) #558417

Well if 4.78 does the job, I’d stick with it. No need to upgrade for the sake of upgrading. I mainly switched because 6.x lets me have any number of email accounts & associated mailboxes. Best o’ luck to you.
