With some of my print servers, I have to delete the port on the server and create a new one. It generally happens about every 3 or 4 months and not neccassarily on all printers. Just select ones. I’ve also had success with the “reboot” method described above. This is typical for either my ethernet or wireless print servers.

Oh, and by the way… be very leary of Window’s Hardware Updates for the Server that may contain Printer Driver Updates!!! I get suckered everytime. Update the driver and pay the price!

      Good Day!

My firm went to a domain environment about six years ago and bought into the Windows Small Business Server 2000, which included Exchange. I was able to convince my firm to use a telecom co. to manage our email instead of using Exchange. I have since upgraded the server early last year to SBS 2003 and have been using Exchange to simply share folders throughout the office via Outlook. So far, it has been one of my better decisions. Sure I have my share of other “opportunities” to expand my knowledge of computing but not having to deal with Exchange on that grand scale has allowed me to emphasize my resources elsewhere.

My feelings are that Exchange could be downsized “a bit” for the SBS versions that they are packaged with and could be much more manageable for smaller companies that have limited resources for I.T. management.

Unfortunately, no…. the old account is controlled by the domain server. If the old account becomes corrupted or deleted on the server, then as far as the server goes, the old account no longer exists and refuses to allow a logon. I will try disconnecting the ethernet connection from the workstation and try again. Not sure if this will work, but it’s worth a try.

      Any other ideas?

      Thanks!!
