I do agree that not all work with each other!

This XP machine is a Dell w/an integrated NIC on the mobo. I did try another XP box that did not have any problems logging on to the network so I know its this particular machine. I’ve since contacted Dell about a replacement.

No, the cable can’t be shortened or relocated. It’s unshielded CAT 5 terminated to RJ45 (est. age 4+ yrs). I’m going to try another XP box on this same drop over the weekend and see what results. I did try a Win98 machine that also worked just fine. Puzzling…

      Thanks!

Yep, there’s an NT4 Wkst box running just fine from it now.

Thanks for the insights! Glad to know it wasn’t just “me” compute I’ll try this network account suggestion.

What’s the best way to help discourage people from doing this?? I’ve got a user that has 17000+ msgs in his Sent Items box!

Yes. Everytime the user clicks the Update button the database is emptied of previous data.

Thank you everyone for your help!! grin
Another question?? Can I delete the recordset everytime before updating it?

Hey, thanks for the no-stylus tip! I keep about a dozen or so lists with this program, including an extensive rubber stamp database. Its great. It’s also an excellent way to keep an 8 year old occupied in the grocery store. I let my son check the boxes and tell me what we need to buy! cool

Thanks for the help Phil. I changed the script debugging setting which stopped the pop windows and then repaired IE 6. I still see some occasional blank windows but nothing major. It was just wierd behavior I would expect from my test machine, not a machine that I don’t modify often!

Ok, I removed the plus signs and re-imported the file into Excel. It’s attached.

Ok, now I’m slightly confused. Anyway, I could not get Excel to import the data as fixed length, I had to change it to delimited using the plus sign as the delimiter. If you import as fixed length it seperates all the plus signs into their own columns. (Attached is the spreadsheet)

Yep, sure is ugly! The fields are fixed length and I don’t know why the + signs show up several spaces after unless the program thats exporting the data is setup to do that. (No minus signs – I misinterpreted the file wrong, my mistake.)There can be no negative numbers in any of the fields.
I have no clue how to parse the fields out either!

Thanks for the help. Maybe this time I can get the attachment here
Using Access is completely out of the question unfortunately. This all has to be done in VB.

I would love to just do this in Access since I already have the database with 2 tables setup and made Access do the SQL queries for me, but the Boss wants a VB app…sigh…Thanks for the link though. (P.S. This project did begin as an Excel spreadsheet.)

Ok, attached is a sample of the data I need to import. Thanks for the help!
