    • in reply to: Document compare is wrong on large docs (Word 2000/SR1) #711488

I found the WordXP document comparison a significant improvement over the previous versions. Microsoft had rewritten the tool, and it is more reliable.

    • in reply to: Initialising the SAVEDATE (WordXP) #710473

Q: Why do you want it updated on save if it is the create date?

A: We want the document to show the date last changed. However, when first creating the document, this date is not set up, because it is only set up after saving the document. The only way to see the date is to first save the document and then print preview it to see the date. This is a bit clunky. Is it possible to have the SAVEDATE set to the current date when creating the document?

    • in reply to: Using word to edit e-mail messages (OutlookXP) #709968

      MaryJ,

It is very reassuring to know that you don’t get any problems with macros when using Word as the e-mail editor. That gives me a lot more confidence. A few days ago, however, someone was shutting down and it said to close all Microsoft Word applications before shutting down. It appeared to have a template loaded in memory still. Is that something you have come across?

      Thanks.

Are there any known problems with using Word as an e-mail editor. For example, does it cause problems if macros are created in Word?

      Thanks

    • in reply to: Minimise Button? (WordXP) #703891

      Jefferson,

The reason I want to minimise the dialog box is because it is a front-end to a database, so closing it all the time takes more time to load the data. It is quicker if the form can remain open while I work.

      Thanks.

      Teresa,

We had a similar problem with printing WordXP documents. The solution we found was to tick the Tools/Options/Print/Background Printing checkbox. That solved it for us.

    • in reply to: temSend event not triggered (Outlook XP) #697885

When I select Send to Recipient, the document is attached to a new Outlook e-mail. I then press the SEND button from Outlook, but the ItemSend event is not triggered.

The confusing thing is that I am using Outlook to send the e-mail, but the event is not being triggered.

    • in reply to: ADO – Record count always -1 (AccessXP) #697222

      Charlotte,

Many thanks. I changed it to the Static type recordset and the recordcount now returns the number of records.

However, I still had lots of trouble executing the WHERE clause. It always returns 0 records. So, someone here helped me and by changing the syntax to
      “like %value%”
      it worked.

For some reason it needs ANSI SQL, instead of Access SQL. I am executing this command through VBA.
