I love this article! Woody said it better than me. Microsoft still doesn’t ‘get it’ with Windows 8.1. That goofy not really a Start button is pretty much of a joke for Desktop users. Thank goodness for StarDock and a host of other tweaks.

kb/2762895 This update practically hosed my desktop. I did system restore and that prompted a Windows system repair twice as Windows wouldn’t boot.
I found references to several programs that were affected, Secunia PSI being one, it was telling me I had to update 7 versions of Microsoft Visual C++. I uninstalled Secunia using Revo Uninstaller and that helped, but Windows Explorer kept closing, every time I rebooted, that update kept trying to install again. I finally managed to get to Windows update and uninstalled it and now things appear to be back to normal. That update is now blocked. I reinstalled Secunia, which now shows everything OK.

It may cost a bit more, but never ever, have your domain name and hosting with the same place.  I leearned that the hard way when I couldn’t move my domain to a new host for weeks as it was held hostage by the host.
