As far as I’m concerned, you may as well go 64-bit. The problems that plagued XP-64 (lack of driver support mainly) have mostly gone away now as more & more users switch to 64-bit. Sure, the system may not go quite as fast with 32-bit apps when directly compared to a 32-bit OS, but for the vast majority of users that difference is not noticeable.

Not only that, sticking with 32-bit limits your future expansion. People have already mentioned the 4GB RAM hard-ceiling & as progress accelerates, that ceiling will become more & more relevant in a short amount of time. Buying a 64-bit OS also futureproofs you for when you upgrade to a new machine.

The pros far outweigh the cons these days IMO. If ultimate compatibility is your aim, then Sun’s Virtualbox is your friend…

That was lovely & really brought a lump to my throat. We had our eldest dog pass away a couple of weeks ago at the grand old age of 16 & we still miss her.

      Thanks for sharing.

Will VLC player work with Windows 7? I don’t see the OS listed on the VLC Player site.

      Yes Zack, it will.

      Hey Alan, how’s it hanging?

‘Derek The Half a Bee’ eh? I like it!

Yeah, the Cahoot webcard was quietly ‘retired’ about 3 months ago and I was gutted! Still have no clue why too. 🙁

As for continuing to post, I intend to! Our corporate firewall rules were relaxed recently allowing me to get back to the chocolatey goodness that is the Lounge. :cheer:

      Hi guys!

I prefer to call it ‘Derek’.

Failing that, 20-10 all the way.

      Niiice redesign by the way…

Personally I prefer something like this to killing the wee beasties.

You’ll have huge difficulty find a PCI (as opposed to PCI-e which is completely different) graphics card today, but a few manufacturers still make AGP cards (though not anything ‘high-end’).

The best one you’ll probably find now would be similar to this

    • in reply to: NOD32 Installation Problems #1065357

That’s a handy fix to know; thanks Jezza.

I’ve used NOD32 for about 3 years now and am extremely impressed with it, but have never run into any of the problems that you encountered Duchess.

      Computers eh?

      hello Hans

Thanks, I’ll give it a try (though to be honest don’t hold out much hope as my ‘expertise’ in this area is near-as-dammit zero!). If it works I’ll send you a giftwrapped [choccybar]…

      thankyou

    • in reply to: Excel Time Help (Excel 2003) #1014808

Thanks for that Jezza. It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for but was good enough that I could adapt it to my needs.

      Take care hugs
