You may have already used up that envelope supply, but I asked a similar question here today and a wonderful person named orangehat gave me this perfect answer:

I found this at another site. I tried and it only printed 1 page of 2 page report on my test.
      Private Sub cmdPrint_Click()
      DoCmd.OpenReport “Name of Report”, acViewPreview
      DoCmd.PrintOut acPages, 1, 1
      DoCmd.Close acReport, “Name of Report”
      End Sub

PERFECT!!!! Thank you so much orangehat, I am eternally grateful.

Darn, definitely NOT what I wanted to hear 🙁
      Thanks for replying RG

    • in reply to: Word 2007 Page Number “Skipping” #1251004

Sorry I couldn’t make that clearer, but the good news is that you interpreted correctly and put me on exactly the right track. I put your suggestion on the even page footer and changed the “+2” to “+1” on the odd pages and that way the when open the page numbers are “Trainer – 4” on the left side, and “Page 4” on the right.

Thank you so much for the help!

    • in reply to: Printing Multiple Labels per Sheet (A2K) #1025642

Sorry to butt in, but I have had this same issue. I solved it with a Dymo thermal label printer. Set the label report page setup property to print to “specific printer” (meaning the Dymo) and leave the warranty sheet as the LaserJet default printer. This way no 1 person would have to wait for several other people to get their work done before they could get their output. The printers are cheap (especially on eBay). I just replaced one for $80, including shipping. The one I replaced had been in service for 3 years. Pro is never changing ink/toner. Only con I can think of is that the labels do come in a roll – print one and tear it off with the little metal teeth (just like with aluminum foil). If several labels come out in quick succession you actually have to tear or cut the backing paper OR just peel off the label you need.

Hope that helps – sure solved my dilemna years ago!

    • in reply to: Date Problem (2002) #976131

Using the DateAdd is fine, just test to see if the “quarter date” is greater than the “end date”. If so, use the end date instead

      IIf(quarterdate>enddate,enddate,quarterdate)

I think you’re also going to have to account for a project that is 11 months and 28 days. You don’t want two reviews days apart, do you?

      Jim,
On eBay you can get a CueCat for around $10 total. I have bought both PS2 and USB versions from seller “lendavor”. Surprisingly I have had better luck with the PS2 while working with Access. This one does require a PS2 keyboard, not a wireless one or a USB one. In fact, even hooking up an external keyboard to my laptop didn’t work. The USB version DOES work, it just takes a little longer to “wake up” and recognize the bar code.

Keep in mind that you have to actually swipe the CueCat across the barcode. What I mean is that it needs to physically touch whatever you want to scan. In your case it wouldn’t work for remote scanning. Like I said earlier, it is a very inexpensive tool for development purposes, but not too practical in the real world.

    • in reply to: Does a table exist (Office 2K) #976049

I believe that I will ALWAYS follow the error handling you have both suggested from this day forward. I’ve never even really worried about error handling thru code, just tried to think of everything that COULD go wrong and try to account for it – shameful. You know the phrase, “Make it idiot-proof and they’ll make a better idiot!”

I had to learn Access by myself back in the early 90’s. Noone I knew had ever even heard of the program and my local bookstores/libraries were of no help. In two weekends I was able to produce my most complex application to date just by wading thru the sample apps. Yes, I was immensely proud of myself (and probably couldn’t do it again today), but in the ensuing years I have realized again and again how poorly I do this and how very, very much I don’t know or understand.

I am forever grateful to you people and your patience.

Good suggestion, John. Out of curiosity, how does one know the actual error numbers? Are they listed in a help index, or have you just run into this situation before?

Perfect!! Why am I not surprised? Hans ROCKS!!! Thank you, yet again, my friend

    • in reply to: TransferSpreadsheet Method (Office 2000) #973137

Not to sound dumb, but “HUH?” Do I have to do that?

I’m sure I didn’t bother to explain that 1.1 refers to Subsystem1, Document1. I have 2 tables that have relationships to whatever is before or after the decimal point, if that’s what used.

I’ll test your memory here – The trick is that I need to create one big old Word file that you tried to help me with a while back. Your approach dealt with Masters and Subdocuments. I gave up on that approach based on the link you sent me detailing the problems with subdocuments. Instead I went to Helen’s site and got a workable solution that was really for Word Merge-ing.

I can’t just use 1 thru whatever the final column number is, or the Access provided F1 thru F-whatever, because the Subsystem part actually relates to the subfolder in which a document is stored AND in the final Word document I need to produce it is what triggers the next HeadingType. To make things more convoluted, well never mind, that would only make you more confused than my ineffective rambling has.

Suffice all that to say, thanks, and I’m sure after your 6 hours of sleep you’ll be bugged by me again!

What timing, I was just in the spreadsheet trying to determine what I wanted to change to. Think I’ll go with the underscore. Wait, I can look for that character via InStr function, right?

      “Regards” !!!

    • in reply to: TransferSpreadsheet Method (Office 2000) #973129

Darn, the link method produced the same results. Think I’m going to admit defeat and insist on changing the 1.1, 1.2, etc to usable field names.

      Thanks for all your help.

    • in reply to: TransferSpreadsheet Method (Office 2000) #973127

Great idea. I’ve never tried the TransferSpreadsheet with linking instead of importing, but will now. I’ll let you know.

FYI, I never did change the names in the interactive mode, just loved the forced results. If this linking works smoothly, I’l love the “#” even more.

      BTW, when do you sleep????

    • in reply to: TransferSpreadsheet Method (Office 2000) #973108

Yes, Hans, they actually are invalid names, I knew that but was happy with the forced results. In fact they are 1.1, 1.2, 1.3,…..4.23…..etc. I thought it was perfect when the “manual” import just changed the table field names to 11, 12, 13,…423, …. etc because with one little IIF statement I could extract the intelligence behind the value. Wonder why the 2 methods (manual vs. DoCmd) are different.

      I’ll try the worksheetname! suggestion.
