Okay…I fixed it by booting from the CD and using the bootcfg command to create a new boot.ini file.

Doesn’t work. Because my C: drive does not exist (It shows as an F: drive), I learned from a website that you have to do a “subst c: f:” in the command field. Only thing I have not been able to find out is that when you restart your computer, you have to do it again, and the folder list displays a duplicate set of folders, one under the F: drive and one under the c: drive.

      CAN ANYONE HELP?

I thought this was familiar…….I had this problem back in 2002, but I don’t remember how we fixed it. See post 107662

I have kept searching the internet and MS’s website. I can’t find anything to help. I have even run additional virus scans. The error message ALWAYS refers to referenced memory 0x00000019,

I haven’t done anything yet. Have to wait till I get home to my computer. But this is what I am going to try in this order:
System restore back before any changes
      System Scan
      Reinstall
      Clean reinstall

Does that sound like a plan? confused

Ok, Bob, thanks. Try the system restore, and then the system scan. My help desk manager at work is telling me the best way is to clear my HD and start over with a clean load of XP. While I appreciate that, I do not want to have to reload all of my apps, the XP downloads/updates, etc. I have used Norton for many years, but this really kind of angers me that a simple removal could mess things up so badly.

Do you mean a Scan Disk?

No error flags in Device Manager.
Yes, I actually removed the NIC card, turned CPU back on and booted up and XP recognized. I did not reboot again right then.
I have not done a system scan. What about a system restore?
