Hi Dave: I knew I had downloaded a add in a couple of years ago that would do this for me, but I could not find it and it was no longer valid after I installed the new version of Office last year. I downloaded this DetachXP and loaded it. Then, looking through so old posts of mine, I found Post: 54217 and downloaded the com add in again. I like it much better than DetachXP as it becomes an option off of the Outlook menu. My question for you is now that I have installed Detach XP, can I just delete the file? There really is not a way to uninstall it is there? I know it modified registry settings, but if I put it back to the original settings, and then delete the file, will I be able to move forward with using the com add in?

Thanks for your help…….as always! thankyou

I just want to make sure that the hotfix is applicable. After reading the documentation, it was kind of hard to tell, and you have to contact MS to get it. It says to only use it for that specific problem. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=833855%5B/url%5D

I I-link cable is a firewire cable that connects the camcorder to the PC. It seemed to work well transferring the digital tape to the pc, then I will burn to a DVD. The A/V cable that came with the camcorder is the 3-color connector variety. You can use the video and audio cables, or you can just use the audio with the S-video cable for the video. I will try transferring the VHS tape to digital tape using that cable first, and if the quality is poor, I will purchase as S video cable. Once on the digital tape, I can then use the firewire cable to save to pc. Thanks again for all of your help. And no one could be more of a rookie at this than me! confused3

Thanks, Bob. It does have the converter, but would it be better to record directly to the Digital 8 tape (I have a Sony TRV-520) and then use the firewire connection to connect to the pc (as I would to transfer any digital tape). Also, will my Videowave 4 software capture the video OK? I guess I could also use Windows Movie Maker. Would it be better to use an S Video cable to connect the VCR to the digital camera or will the supplied AV cable be OK?

It appeared on its own the last time. I will check those other settings. I think I know where you are talking about the check mark, but I thought that was for the task bar. I am talking about appearing in the Network Places Window.

I forgot to mention that when it WAS working initially, the INTERNET GATEWAY icon appeared in My Network Places. After uninstalling and reinstalling the adapter, the icon is missing, and the system doesn’t recognize that a network exists.

It is a 2.0 4 port POWERED hub. It has only 1 or 2 items plugged in on a regular basis. I use the other two occasionally when I connect my media card reader, my Palm, or my USB flash drive. However, these items are never plugged in on continual basis.
