AskWoody LoungerThanks Hans. I have succeeded in setting up the Custom document properties, which suits me fine. I may need to think about future users also, so I may one day change to the user form method as in the demo you mention.

AskWoody LoungerActually, the method 3a looked too daunting and dangerous, so I downloaded axialis iconworkshop, and used their Customize Windows (with icon cache rebuild) and it worked like a charm. What a great program.
Now I can see which folder I’m in. -

AskWoody LoungerThanks for the reply, st3333ve. I had tried that site, but couldn’t find the icon cache to delete. So I followed your method using Tweakui / Repair. Then rebooting. Still to no avail.
I will try Method 3a, editing Shell32.dll, which also needs to be followed by Tweakui/Repair, I presume. -

AskWoody LoungerJan, it was also saving Personal.xls with the project number, so I added a line to detect that with
If sName “PERSONAL.XLS” Then
‘ Add the project number
‘ Save as …
End IfWorks fine.
Thanks again. -

AskWoody LoungerThanks Jan, I will try both methods.

AskWoody LoungerThanks Hans and Jan,
I eliminated a few unused formats using the code in the mentioned thread, and I saved as htm file. I am waiting for it to save as xls at the moment.
If I still have trouble, I will try to uniformise the formats. Thanks a lot.

AskWoody LoungerThanks Legare. Now that I can do that, it looks like a tool I will use on my spreadsheets for other users.

AskWoody LoungerThanks MaryJ, you are right on. I really did mean MSMail, and the fix fixed it. My colleague was so impressed that he wants me to take over administration of the mail system. “Decline.” I showed him your message, but he still seems to think I did it alone.
Marvellous source of information, Woody’s Lounge and the people in it. Thanks a lot.

AskWoody LoungerHmmm, I tried that Joe, and it doesn’t find me when I ask to check my mailbox name.

AskWoody LoungerI just realized that I did not thank you Charlotte for your help.
I tried the first recommendation, but found that the DAO 3.6 object model was already checked.
So I went to the second suggestion, and, with the help of Search and find, (or was it by compiling), I located all the instances that were giving problems, and added DAO before the reference.
It worked !Thanks a lot Charlotte.
