Okay – thanks for your suggestion – this actually worked, but only with Office XP. In case anyone is wondering how to do this, simply go into Word, and setup a mail merge. For the source, use your Outlook contacts. The wizard will walk you through the whole thing – fortunately, I have OfficeXP at home, so I just made the labels in Word 2002, saved the file, emailed it to work, where I printed off 500+ rolodex cards (even using color), and I have a mighty impressive resource on my desk. True, I use my Outlook contacts and Handspring Visor most of the time, but sometimes, if my PC is locked up or I have a major script running, the rolodex pays off. I am using Exchange, which is great, but the server is in Florida and I am in Kentucky – so those contacts are on the server, and sometimes there are issues with connection time. It will be another year before I have an Exchange server closer to me. Sure I could put those contacts in a .pst file on my desktop, but sometimes, because of the connection, Outlook just ties things up. Thanks, because I wouldn’t have investigated doing a mail merge into labels without your post.

Actually, any version of Outlook….I can’t believe this is this difficult.

Tried Screensizer – it works as described above – the only annoying thing is that it isn’t easy for my kids to use – they range in age from 3-12; granted, changing screen resolution is a tall order for a three-year old, but if there was an icon on the desktop that I could set… in other words – there would be two icons – one for 1180x whatever, what we usually use on a 21″ monitor, and then another icon for the 800×600 256 colors they need for their games. Of course, if stupid XP would just keep the settings they chose, instead of fripping changing it for everyone….. I paid $200 for this OS, you would think it would do that based on the user’s profile…. hairoutUSA

This isn’t as free as you make it out to be – you have to 1) prove you are a school or a non-profit organization and 2) complete the free download before Nov 30 – tomorrow. I just use Blackice Defender (the patched XP version) in place of McAfee Firewall, and I only have problems with the RULaunch portion of Mcafee. I still have to do my virus updates manually. electric

That’s what we were trying to avoid – but it seems inevitable. doh

AOL – you don’t even want me to say what I think that stands for….

    • in reply to: Taskbar icon to change resolution #1793380

I would be interested in doing this in WinXP, since my kids have games they run @ 256 colors – when they change the setting – it changes it for all users. Perhaps a way to just put a shortcut on the desktop that changes the resolution…. anyone know?

    • in reply to: XP and McAfee 6.0 #554451

I ALWAYS get an RULaunch error when McAfee 6.0 tries to check automatically for updates. I had to disable the Firewall software and uninstall it – using BlackIce Defender – a patched XP version instead – and the McAfee box states BUILT FOR WINDOWS XP. This is built for XP like the Detroit Lions play a football game…IT SUCKS! I will be doing some MAJOR complaining to McAfee about their product. wartgun

My cam was starting to do worse – blue screen of death in XP Professional. When I system restored due to a CD Burner problem, I was back to Yahoo! IM 4. I have just simply refused to upgrade – it isn’t that significant anyway. USA laugh
