Any chance you could tell me how to do that?

      Hi Jan

Changing the colour of the font isnt really desirable. I think the attached example will show better what I am trying to describe. If it isnt possible, it is not life threatening. I can live without it.

Alan You are very kind. If you dont feel confident to assist here, I wonder if one of the Moderators might see this post and help. Trouble is I dont know how to get this question back in the loop.

I hope you are having a great birthday !

      Hi Alan

Luckily I dont have to start this project until 1 June, so I have some time to give some thought to the direction I will go. I am not a lover of .pdf format and havent yet seen anything pdf that turns me on!

I am not familiar with building web pages and html yet, but may have to do a crash course. I have seen plenty of great looking “web works” and think that may be the way to go. As for people unfortunate enough not to have 21” screens, I think I can live with some copy, paste, printing. If they are stupid enough to do it, then so be it. My aim is to make my work so “user friendly” and “easily navigated” that they will always go “electronic” to find the info they want.

I guess the next question is, what software package should one use, Word, Frontpage or Dreamweaver??

Once again you have been extremely helpful Hans. This is a great explanation!

As for the lookup functions – yes I will have a search on Google.

      Much appreciated.

Excellent Hans! I am always willing to learn new tricks. It makes me look clever to my boss and one day they may think I am clever enough to pay me more!

Hey that’s nifty! I didnt know about that technique. I’ve learnt something new. Thanks Hans!

Thankyou for your response Hans! Sorry for my delay in responding. I have been absorbing what you have done.
It is doing what I wanted except for one thing, which I may have to accept.

When I complete this spreadsheet, it will have a full 12 months in the Accruals and a sheet for each of those 12 months. If I get a new staff person, I will have to add them individually to each monthly sheet.

Is there a way around this? Perhaps a macro?

      Once again thankyou.

Sadly I have to admit, after giving Steves suggestion a go, I have failed and have absolutely no idea how to do this.

      HELP! blush

    • in reply to: Sort Not working (Excel 97/2000) #668973

Ok Steve, I will give that a go. It sounds quite sensible. Thankyou.

Unfortunately I will have to wait till morning to do it as its midnight now and I am brain dead!

Will let you know how it turns out.

      Thanks!

It is the Apr May Sheets that are the problem. I want the data in the cells that are the days of the month 1 through 30 to move with the person, when I sort the Accruals worksheet by Location.

As it is now you can see the person Valma Ahnge at Cell C3 has 7.5 hrs in the April sheet. Go to the Accruals Sheet and Sort by Location and then come back and you will see that she moves, but the 7.5 hours are now next to Brian Dew.

      Does this make more sense?

Hmmmm….yes, you raise some very valid questions. Me and my grandious ideas!! The idea of a macro run on demand in the leave summary sounds sensible, however, I too am unable to create such a thing.

As for the two types of leave on one day!!! oh my god. I never thought of that.

Well, if anyone is willing to have a go at this, then that would be wonderful. Otherwise I will have to go back to the drawing board.

Either way, the problem isn’t life threatening and I appreciate having the chance to bounce my ideas of around.

      Thanks

      Kerry

Yep, I sure did! After I logged the question I thought I was fairly vague, so I probably didnt deserve an answer. So I am grateful of your reply. I would definately never have been able to put together a formula like this!

It almost does the trick, just two little tweaks would make it perfect.

Firstly, If you run the macro on the Master Sheet “Press here to set up for 12 Months”, you will see that a sheet is made for each fornight in the following twelve month period. The template is then hidden and not used after setting up. So the reference to ‘template’ in the formula, needs to some how be changed to refer to all worksheets.

Secondly, only the dates where there IS actually some leave taken needs to show up on the leave summary and then a total at the bottom of each column.

Now…. you are probably regretting sifting through the archives finding my question with no replies 🙂 !!
