I assume F2 and F12 are listed as the keys to press for the relevant functions as F1 or F3 can work on some Dells.

Try ending explorer.exe in task manager and then restarting it.

I would say you should try malwarebytes anti-exploit free. I’ve had it on my machine for several months now, works great.

It’s probably communicating with home for updates. See if there’s an option for turning off auto-updating. If it still occurs, try a repair or uninstall and reinstall.

Did the startup repair uninstall the updates. If so how do I get them to stay installed?

The startup repair restored your computer to before the updates were installed, (same happened to me). Just click start, type “windows update” enter and it will find the updates you’ll need, if it already hasn’t happened on its own.

I had to uninstall Flash Block, before I could get Adblock Plus to work again. Flash block is’nt compatable with 7.01
