Thanks, MJ and Leif. No Leif, there’s no problem with the delete process. It’s just that every once in awhile these folks (and I’ve done it, too), click the wrong close button (x) and really don’t want to close Outlook. Unfortunately, once you’ve clicked the Outlook x, there doesn’t seem to be any way to stop the process, short of programming. Thanks again for comments.

    • in reply to: How can I use the Outlook GAL in a Word Mail Merge #524121

At least in our firm, the GAL is used only for employee information and for employee distribution lists. At our site, a public folder would make a lot more sense for what you’re trying to accomplish. It also makes a Word mail merge pretty simple, although some of the Contact fields are not accessible in the mail merge program.

Unfortunately not. It appears to be on all messages. We can’t figure out how he did it (or what happened to cause it) in the first place.

      Karen,
Thanks for the information. I’ve been searching the forum, but apparently am not looking for the right keyword(s). Any suggestion as to search phrase? Have tried “auto-detect language” and several others. Thank you.

We’re using exchange, version 5.5. We did find something that suggested that the problem might be on the receiver’s end. Also, because the sent date and time on every message is the same, that seems to make sense to me. If it were being re-sent from our end, wouldn’t the date and time be different on each message?

Thank you, John. In future I’ll use the double-click/save and close method. I guess I’m still wondering if it’s a programming issue or what, but it probably doesn’t make any difference as long as it works.
