I’m not sure exactly what your question is, but if you are asking how to link text boxes, here is the way I do it in Word97.
      1. Highlight the first text box by clicking in it. The outside of the text box should be shaded.
      2. If the text box toolbar is not visible then click View….Toolbars….Text Box to make it appear.
      3. Click on the link on the toolbar.
      4. Go to the next text box, where you want to link (it has to be empty), and click in it.
That’s it. Now the two text boxes are linked. Text will flow from one to the other. If I am answering the wrong question, you may want to clarify what information you want. ….J.Till

Neither Word 2000 nor Word 97 has the capability to automatically produce foldover booklets with the pages in the correct order, after folding. I have read that Word 2002 does have this capability, but I have not tried it myself. If you don’t mind a little work, you can create your own document using linked text boxes. That’s how I did it. Another option is Click books at http://www.bluesquirrel.com/clickbook/%5B/url%5D where they sell a program to do this. Good Luck. ….J.Till

If you install Zone Alarm (even the free version) you will have to give permission for each program on your PC that tries to access the internet. Since this is done one program at a time, you can easily tell what’s what.

When making Word documents, I usually just highlight the desired cells in Excel, then copy, move to Word, and paste. Will this work for you? …J.Till

Eric, contrary to your impressions, I, unfortunately, have no suggestions. ….JTill

Just to be sure about what you have done so far….Have you gone into Settings, then Printers, and selected your printer as the default printer? You do need to select a specific printer so your system knows which fonts it can print.

In non-Office programs, such as Wordpad, can you see the right fonts or not?

If you go to Setting, Control Panel, Fonts, are the fonts that you want to see listed there?

    • in reply to: Booklet printing in Word 2000 (Word 2000) #554441

To my knowledge, Word2000 does not have the capability to make booklets as WordPerfect can. You can try a shareware program, Clickbooks at http://www.bluesquirrel.com/clickbook/ to get this capability. Or you can do it yourself. Two articles I like are from PCMagazine at http://www.zdnet.com/pcmag/pctech/content/…ons/wp1704a.htm geared to Word97, or at the mvps.org http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Formatting/BookletPrinting.htm …J.Till

The word processing program Yeah Write is good for a person who writes occasional letters or memos. It is easy to use (limited options) and has a nice large-print-on-the-screen display. (Specify installation to the C:ProgramsYW folder during installation or the program will install to the C:drive.) Free or $29 with more options. The free version is probably just fine. http://www.yeahwrite.com/

Americana is not a free font. It is sold by Adobe http://www.adobe.com/type/browser/P/P_068.html so be careful that you do not get your company in trouble for using unlicensed unpaid-for software.

    • in reply to: Apostrophe Problem (Microsoft Word2000 (9.0.3821 SP-1)) #551322

Hello Klaus and Phil, I think cliffh and chriskaine are having the exact problem they describe. And I think they are competent typists know where the apostrophe is. My software is older than theirs. But if either of you have that newer software, could you try to use the International Keyboard in the Windows options (as I mentioned above) to see if you can duplicate the problem they are describing?

    • in reply to: Apostrophe Problem (Microsoft Word2000 (9.0.3821 SP-1)) #551063

This may be caused by the Windows options for your keyboard. Go to Control Panel….Keyboard…..Language Tab….Click on Properties….and look at the dropdown box. If yours says International Keyboard this gives you additional options for entering foreign characters. You may want to change it back to United States (or United States 101). (These instructions are for Windows 98, but I hope it’s similar in Windows 2000.) I’m pretty sure the International Keyboard is your problem.

    • in reply to: Document with same type pages (Word 97) #544734

SDGardella, I do not have an answer, but I am in sympathy with your request. It would seem that making a document with each page set up the same (without user intervention) would be a basic word-processing function. But perhaps not. …JTill

kweaver, the file you have attached is a shareware file. I doubt that you have the legal right to distribute it in this form. The fonts Serifractions and Sansfractions are, indeed, useful. Those who want the whole story can visit the author’s site at http://homepage.mac.com/TomDar2/software.html and download the complete zip file. J.Till

    • in reply to: Printing Graphics #528753

I have solved a similar problem (same software setup) by clicking on the graphic to select it, right clicking, then Order…Bring in Front of Text. This places it in front of the text box when printing. Good luck. …J.Till
