The post above refers to the Google Toolbar (for Firefox) made by Google.

There is an open source toolbar, “Googlebar”, made by Firefox fans.

The Google Toolbar website does, in fact, mention their open source competition at the end of the page.

    • in reply to: Header Footer Won’t Print (2003) #959903

I agree with Ian’s observation; but let me make a comment and ask a (possibly) related question for Lounge members. I have read that if you have specified draft mode in MS Word (Tools…Options…Print Tab) that the headers may or may not be printed depending on how the printer driver interprets draft mode. Is this correct?

Also, if the header/footer is a graphic, then the drawing object box might need to be checked.

      Thanks, J.Till

    • Is this problem happening with existing documents, or with new documents, or both? If it is happening with existing documents, maybe the document has been set to automatically update to a template. On my older version of Word, the option is Tools…..Templates and Add-ins…..checkbox.

I realize this discussion is about pictures for the desktop of a personal computer but just a general reminder to all…. Just because you can download an image, does not mean you can use it on your own website or another’s website. Read the copyright and permission info.

From the FAQ section of http://www.kokomoaru.com:
Facts and fictions : ALL images are collected from various websites around the world. All images has their owner’s copyright. If you are the rightful owner and do not want me to publish your image on my site, please mail me and it will taken off the server.

    • in reply to: Printing a booklet, part II (Word 97) #898636

There is an article by M. David Stone, originally in PC Magazine, on using linked text boxes in Word97 to make foldover booklets. The article is now at http://www.carolmccluer.net/word-tips.htm%5B/url%5D about two thirds of the way down the page. I use Word97 and have used this to make several booklets. It’s not automatic, but once you have your booklet set up it’s easily edited.

In addition to Two-by-Four mentioned by Hans, Clickbook at http://www.bluesquirrel.com[/url%5D is another reputable program for this purpose. I have not used it but many others have. The website says they are offering a special holiday price.

      Good Luck, J. Till

I happened to see a design site mention this. Seneca Design. http://www.senecadesign.com/tips-pubs/arch…g-archives.html%5B/url%5D
I’m not an InDesign user but you can look at DG#25, maybe 27,28 and decide for yourself.

Have you chosen a default printer? Windows uses this information to see what fonts are appropriate.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I feel like I’m up-to-date now with text direction.
Time will tell as to whether I share your enthusiasm.

I’m a little bit behind the curve with regard to the subject of this post. (And I was unable to find the appropriate folder at the WilsonJones link.) Are we talking about text direction in a text box? Could someone give me a little basic info about “text direction” as it seems like it might be very useful if I actually knew what was going on.
      Thank You, J. Till

    • in reply to: Word stand-alone vs. Word in Works Suite (2002) #862914

According to Microsoft’s site http://www.microsoft.com/products/works/Pr…ls.aspx?pid=001%5B/url%5D Works Suite 2004 contains Word 2002. There is always a lag time before the latest version of Word makes it into Works. But the Works home page says that Works Suite 2005 is coming soon. Perhaps that upcoming version will contain Word 2003.
