Dave — Thanks, I hadn’t poked around for all the new stuff installed as a result of SP2. My computer is a lap top (I have a desktop machine too — not SP2 enabled yet) but I use my laptop as my main machine, so it can be either at home or away!! I sent a question to Symantec, but in the meantime, got on to a live chat support with Comcast and got the things all set. Required re-setting my IE to defaults, but I’ll live with that for a while and then start customizing it one step at a time if needed. Thanks again for your rapid replies. Isn’t it awful how dependent we’ve become on all this working well, without having the add’l problems of worms/viruses/trojans horses/etc. etc. etc.? But I love it and would not want to go back to the pre-computer days (like BEFORE I started using a Commodore 64!)

When I installed SP2 I got a message about the firewall (recognizing that I had Norton) and I _did_ tell it to turn off the SP2 firewall. But I don’t remember anything about popup blockers (I have Google toolbar with its popup blocker) so I probably do need to do that — question is: How? I’ve tried allowing popups for the comcast.net site, but that didn’t work.

Aha — that makes sense. Thanks again.

Hans — Many thanks for the information. That solved the problem! Wonder why it’s necessary to have multiple XLStart folders? Anyway, I love Woody’s Lounge — the instructor in my online class didn’t come up with this answer at all.

Well, that’s one way to get the answer — post a “silly” question and right away you’ll find the answer where everyone else already knows it is!! As you can see, I found the flags for my signature. Still want to know about the other questions (double-arrow, TonerTuner)
      Thanks

    • in reply to: Various signatures possible? (Office XP) #858202

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I finally: 1) quit using Word for Mail and went to Outlook for mail and 2) created a “blank signature” (2 spaces) and choose that as my default sig. Then when I want a multi-line sig, I just highlight the “blanksig” 2 spaces and Insert/options/sig/… and select the detailed sig that I want. Most of the time I just type my name since that’s faster, but if I need name, association, and e-mail address or some pithy statement I can use the other signature(s)

John — Thanks for all your help. I did go to the Inbox folder properties and it says “do not archive material in this folder” so I guess I actually dumped the stuff myself, OR it’s on one of the other machines!! Maybe I should consider trying to use only one machine But some of the stuff I do still works better on my old Mac than on the PC. Sure is fun trying to get my fingers to remember which system I’m using; the keyboard commands on the Mac use the Apple/Cmd key whereas the same ones on the PC use the Ctrl key. So if I’ve been on the Mac and then shift to the PC I find myself pressing the Alt key instead of the Ctrl key, since the Apple key is in the same position as the Alt key! Ah, well… Thanks again.

Well — I’d do that if I could find the .pst file! I did a search on *.pst and found nothing.
      >may have deleted some items permanently
Ooops! How do I fix that? Or are you referring to items which I manually deleted? And of course, to add to the problem, I’ve used 3 different machines (one Mac, a desktop PC and this laptop — who knows which machine I was using when I “saved” the messages I though I had?
