I downloaded the 30 day trial version of TurboPrint. Once I figured out how to find the app (still learning how this Linux Mint works) I was able to add my printer. It found it and loaded the drivers very well. prints well. Is there a way of taking the setup and manually adding it to my setup to save on the dollars. We use Linux Mint to avoid paying for apps as often as possible. Otherwise I will try it and see if it’s worth spending the bucks on.

I am with you on cost. However I am an exclusive Linux home user since about 1995 and needed this to work for the excellent Canon to work. This is one of the rare occasions that I had to pay something in the Linux world and I haven’t regretted it. The other times are voluntary like public television. I think it is worth it to make up for the lack of support from Canon. But that is only my opinion. HP is more supportive and the Linux drivers are readily available for them but that doesn’t help if you already have the Canon.

Gerald, I also posted a question as to the Canon printer in the Linux forums. Perhaps something will spring from there. I know there is an answer to the printer problem. I just can’t seem to find it yet. The other devices on my network are visible including the printer memory although it will not mount. I can access my wife’s laptop over the network from my Linux Mint laptop just by entering her user name and password. Her User folder is set to share and I can open and see it all. I can transfer files to/from my Linux Mint to my Win 7. I’m tired tonight, tomorrow’s another day. Ted

As soon as I saw the Canon printer I knew that you will have a problem which could be solved by TurboPrint http://www.turboprint.info/ I have an older usb Canon Pixma 6000 which can only be accessed with this software. About 30 euros will do it. Canon is not as friendly to Linux as other companies are so these fixes are necessary.
