AskWoody LoungerHans, many thanks. You know that it works, and I am, once more, reminded of the million things to learn if only one had the time.
Thanks and regards

Thanks again

AskWoody LoungerAnother cause of unexpected restarts is your power supply either being faulty or being told that the computer is too hot. My previous laptop got its fan clogged with fluff. The overheating caused re-starts.
If it isn’t a virus and your machine is not getting too hot and you can get inside your PC check all the wires coming out of your power supply. Make sure that they are properly plugged in to the mother board and drives. While you are there blow out all the dust anyway.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 12, 2005 at 11:06 pm in reply to: Transfer Wizard: …does not contain stored info (XP Pro SP2) #978681Thanks for your help. The problem has resolved itself. I copied the .UNC folder from the removable hard disk to my desktop. Someone at the office suggested this. Anyway, now the wizard sees the files correctly and has restored them. Thanks for your interest and help.

What other way can I restore? Please let me know because maybe that will help.

AskWoody LoungerHi,
If you have Outlook you can bring up a file-system folder in your Outlook. It displays just like in Windows Explorer. This may sound useless until you discover that Outlook can PRINT IT.
In Outlook XP (which I no longer have) you needed to have the Outlook bar visible and then you could right click on it. I forget the details (except there was the odd choice “file system” at one stage), but it was not difficult to specify the folder whose contents you wanted printed.
I now have Outlook 2003 and I have just spent an unsuccessful five minutes trying to make it work here.
Good luck.

The winner, for me, will be the one that recognises the 90 minutes of TV recording made by mt Wedia edition of XP. Any experienced users out there?

AskWoody LoungerIdidn’t do it myself. I just dragged the folder of photos to the CD Rom drive and followed all the prompts using the defaults. This is a brand new laptop and this is the first CD I have burned on it, so the defaults will be the factory ones.
Regards and thanks for your interest

Many thanks for your link. I tried a search of previous threads without success. I guess you have to know the keywords. “Bottom right hand corner” was obviously not technical enough!Anyway, I have just now had success with sending the cursor to A1, saving, closing the file and opening it again. This didn’t seem to work before, but maybe I wasn’t concentrating.

Sadly, MS’s Import Export wizard (the utility that imports spreadsheets into SQL Server tables) gives you no control at all over the range of data.
Thanks anyway

My only remaining worry is to worry about why I didn’t think of that solution myself!
