      Hello John-
Thanks for the input. I did try going back and forth between views and this seems to have reset the necessary variable, because now I can see my all-day appointments! clapping

After further testing, I found what the problem is: The clock setting in the left hand column. bingo If I set the clock to have 60 minute increments (so I can see the flow of the day), the single all-day events disappear. If I cahnge it to any other increment, they become visible again. This is definitely reproducible, and I would consider it a bug… But then again, what would I know, I am only someone who want to use the software to get some work done… confused

Thank you for your help. This prompted me to push a little harder.

Okay I will upload three images. The first one shows Test activity #1 and #2 there for today. The important one is for tomorrow anigrin. The second shows the same view after I move Test activity #1 to Wednesday. The third shows a different view where they are visible.
      Thanks,
      John

I am using OL 2003 sp2, as a stand alone client, so I do connect with an exchange server.

    • in reply to: Application crash when opening old files (MS Pub 2 #1001920

      Hello John,

Thank you for your post. No, this is not the problem, that is for sure. The size of the files was well below the memory limitations, and the symptom was that the application would crash, generating the MS Phone-home dialog box. My laptop came with the trial version of the Small Business package, and I had to uninstall it to put the full blown version in place. The trial period had definitely not expired when I was trying this. After installing a fully licensed version, the files opened without a problem. I assume it had to do with the trial version, but I am not sure. If it had been just with certain kinds of files that would be one thing, but this behavior was with every file that I tried. I assume that MS tested this scenario, so I was very surprised by it.

I am still learning about task panes and how they work, but the program seems to be functioning now.

Again, thanks for the reply. I was wondering if there was anybody out there…

    • John-

Thank you for your help. It was as simple as needing to know about the .Save command. In all the examples that I looked at within the MS help files, I did fot see one that had that command, and as is often the case, if you don’t know the answer you’re looking for, it is not easy to find the right information in the help files.

      Thanks again,
      John D

    • in reply to: Win98 SE and IE 5.5 SP2 (IE 5.5 SP1) #719387

      Hello SMBP

Thank you for your help and ideas. I think I found out what was the problem, in that my version of PC-cillian seems to have been blocking Active-X controls that I said could run. When I turned that off, and ran the process, I was able to upgrade my Windows Update software to the extent that it works with the Java Filter on. I had also moved the Windows Update site into my Trusted zone (as recommended in another post), and I have set this area to have slightly looser restrictions on the Active-X controls. Between these things, I have been able to get the Windows Update site to work for me.

You recommended to up grade to IE 6, but I was under the impression that would not be a wise choice for someone like me on Win98 and a three year old machine. At the time it came out, it seemed like the features were not worth it for the overhead. Perhaps I am wrong, but since a hardware upgrade is still out of the question (and for a long while to come), I think I need to be concerned about it.

I will be looking at the Security Bulletins site more regularly, and try to keep on top of what is going on. I am in the situation that I don’t really know at what point I am with my updates, so I need to get up to date and then stay that way.

      Thanks again.

      Thanks for your replies.

Dave, to answer your question, I do not have any other blocking software running. Just the firewall and the virus stuff. I would be leary of turning that off to try to run an update, given that I get probed about every 2-4 seconds. duck

NAImasy, I could not find a version specific SP2 for Win98 (SE or not), so I downloaded the version for ME, thinking it might be close enough to run. I know that Win98 is officially no longer serviced, so I am wondering if the folks in Redmond have made sure that there are no references to it in the pages for this release. I don’t know… If somebody does, please enlighten us! yep

    • in reply to: Win98 Peer-To-Peer Network Problem #545050

      Hi Ian –

I don’t have zone alarm, but there is some more detail in my reply to Keely.

    • in reply to: Win98 Peer-To-Peer Network Problem #545048

I had tried NetBEUI, and IPX, but not recently. I tried again with NetBEUI, which did not work. I have also tried adding the static entries to the LMHOSTS file, which handled the name resolution to an IP, but it do not allow for communication, except as before (during the process of logging in or out).

I will try the IPX again, but probably I will try to do a filtered start-up of the different items that I am loading to see if there is something in this that is the problem.

I do not have any firewalls installed at the moment, but there was a VPN set-up on both machines at one point. This was for when I was working out of an office. I am no longer connecting to this office anymore and it was no longer needed. This has supposedly been removed (according to Windows Add/Remove Programs), but one can never be sure…

I fear it is looking more and more like I will have to take more drastic measures to resolve this…

      Any additional thoughts?

    • in reply to: Win98 Peer-To-Peer Network Problem #544699

Thanks for the input that I have received thus far. in answer to some of the points asked:

The drives on both machines are shared and one printer on one machine. These are only bound to the IP of the ethernet cards and not to the dial-up adapter. There are no fire-walls installed on these machines, since they are only dial connectivity (but I expect to get that fixed soon).

I chose to use statically assigned (non-routable) addresses so that I could do some trouble shooting, as I did not want to have to find out the IP addresses on each machine every time I made a change. As for the preference for IP: I am more comfortable with the tools available to be able to detailed trouble shooting.

I appreciate any additional insight you-all might have.

      Thanks,
      John D
