Have you restarted your PC and tried again?

If that doesn’t help, try creating a new e-mail profile in the Mail control panel.

Restarted did the trick – thanks

Select Tools | Address book… (or click the Address book button on the toolbar).
      Select Tools | Options…
Select Contacts from the “Show this address list first” dropdown.
      Click OK.
      Close the Address book dialog.

I tried that and get a message “Address Book Options could not be displayed. You need more memory or system resources. Close some windows and try again.” I only have Outlook and Firefox running, and I have 3 GB or Ram.

Discovered one computer was not in the Trusted Zone. Changed setting in ZoneAlarm and all is now well.

I’m afraid I’m out of ideas. I hope that someone else will come up with a helpful suggestion.

I have just successfully closed Outlook leaving no Outlook process or icon in the tray. I have no idea what cause the proble but will report back if I figure it out.

      Other possible culprits:
      – WinFax
      – Your antivirus program

I am not using WinFax and am not aware of anything that has changed in Zone Alarm Security Suite.
If I restart the computer, Outlook only appears in the Process after I start Outlook.

The program using Outlook may be external. Are you running the Blackberry desktop redirector?

Not that I am aware of.

Have you tested both “ordinary” add-ins and COM add-ins? Both can be managed from Tools | Options… > Other tab > Advanced Options…

All Add-ins including COM add-ins are disabled and still the Outlook process runs after closing Outlook. The Outlook icon contues to be displayed in the system tray

    • in reply to: POPs email server when closed #1175674

Either disable them one by one and see if the problem goes away when you exit Outlook, or disable all of them, then enable them again one by one.
Both methods are tedious, but that’s not to be helped…

I disabled each one by one. The Outlook process continues to run. The Outlook icon continues to run in the system tray.

Thanks, Joe – I fixed it by right clicking on the Contacts folder and adding it to Favorites. Not sure what removed it but that problem is solved

You are correct Outlook continues as a running process. How do I determine which Add-on might be causing this problem. Will just unchecking one at a time and then exiting Outlook do it?

Problem solved. I had mapped to a wrong folder.

    • in reply to: Using a newly installed font #1174627

You can specify a font for text in Wordpad, Paint, Notepad, …

I get the same result in Wordpad. Must not be an Office problem.

    • in reply to: Using a newly installed font #1174624

The font was sent to me by a graphics designer who designed a logo and tag line for me.
I am trying to think of a non-Office program I can try it with. Maybe Adobe Photoshop?

    • in reply to: Using a newly installed font #1174617

What do you mean by “installed” ? Did you run the Font Installer app as in this screenshot?

Yes, that is exactly what I did – used the font installer.

My son is using Apple Mail and sending the messages with attachment via a MS Exchange Server.

I forgot to add he composes the text in Rich Text format.
