Doing a search on Google yielded these results which might be more relevant to your problem though

Thanks, but both of these links are broken.

I believe I may have solved this problem by running Scanpst on the Google Apps PST file. Be sure to run Scanpst on the correct PST file. In my case searching for *.pst turned up 8 different pst files. I selected the one with the most recent date and ran Scanpst on that file. (It was in at Google Apps Sync folder.)

    • in reply to: Address Book default to Contacts #1241405

Thanks, that fixed it. I had forgotten there was a Tool menu in the Address Book window for this.

That path does not appear for me. Where do you find Address to start? I am using Outlook 2003.

    • in reply to: How to ID USB 2 ports #1232857

I must not have been clear. My question was not what is a powered USB port, but was how do I determine if any and which USB ports are USB 2 ports? In Device Manager under USB Serial Bus Controller there is one entry, “Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller”. There are 20 other devices listed (see attached).

I ran Outlook Help>Detect & Repair and still Outlook fails to capitalize the first word in sentence. This is a real head scratchier. Have I really stumped all the Loungers? If so, it will be the first time in many years that I have been a member.

This happened to me when I loaded Word 2010 Beta. Removing the Beta and Repairing Office 2007 brought back the capitalization.

I am using Outlook 2003 SP3. How do I repair Outlook 2003? I seem to remember seeing that option somewhere. Nothing else seem to resolve this problem. (It is my wife’s compute and she is really pressuring me to fix this.)

    • in reply to: Java Console #1215902

The old versions could create conflicts between each other. You should see all the old versions in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, and should be able to remove them here. I would remove all but the latest version listed, then use the update tab to install version 18. If, after this, you show 2 versions, remove the older version once again. All you need is one version. Unfortunately, Sun, like many other s/w distributors, do not do a good job of deleting old versions of their s/w.

Attached is a screen shot of my Control Panel Add & Remove Programs. As you can see there are quite a few Java entries. Which ones should I remove?

Thanks all, updating Java from the Control Panel solved the problem. The PC with the problem had not installed a Java update since 2008!

I tried rich text and plain text and HTML None are capitalizing the first letter of a sentence.

    • in reply to: TextSoap – How to remove old version #1210360

      Thanks Robin –
Actually TextSoap is in my list of All Programs, but not in Add or Remove Programs. In All Programs there is only a shortcut to the exe file and a help file. No uninstall program. I looked in C:Program Filestextsoap and found the exe file, an uninstall log file, an ini file, a cnt file, and the help file. No uninstall file. I may try the “Revo Uninstaller”. However, I have found another program, Text Cleaner, that is a just a simple exe file and does the job nicely.

PS, as I was writing this I received an email from the TextSoap developer who suggested going to Add or Remove Programs and removing, but TextSoap is not listed. Stay tuned.

    • in reply to: Presentation mode #1191079

On PowerPoint 2007 there are zoom buttons just under the notes in presenter view, and these allow you to change the size of the displayed notes.

It appears MS made some improvements in PowerPoint 2007. (I am using 2003.) But it still doesn’t come close to Apple’s Key Note. In presenter’s view in Key Note it is much easier to change font sizes. In addition in Key Note presenters view, on the laptop monitor you see not only the current slide being projected to the audience, but also the next slide, and of course the notes associated with the current slide. There is also an elapsed time and current time clock. If changing the resolution of the monitor really works (I did not try this), that is cumbersome and should not be necessary.

For anyone making presentations on a regular basis I suggest buying or borrowing a Mac. Thanks to everyone who chimed in on this thread. I am off to the Apple Store.
