    • Why not use the built in back up software in Windows 8? You say you are familiar with File History, so

      – Access File History through Control Panel-> System and Security -> File History
      – In the lower left corner of the window is a link “System Image Backup”
      – Click this entry and a dialog box shows up asking where you want to put the system image. (an attached external hard d
      – Click “Next”
      – Follow the directions in the “Create a System Image” wizard that opens.

      IF you want to put a shortcut icon on the desktop to get to the Control Panel:

      1. Right-click a empty spot on the desktop
      2. From the context menu, select “New”
      3. Select “Shortcut”
      4. In the box labeled “Type the location of the item”, enter
      explorer shell:::{5399E694-6CE5-4D6C-8FCE-1D8870FDCBA0}
      5. Click “Next”
      6. For the name, enter “Control Panel”
      7. Click “Finish”
