      To All,

Apparently there is no way to send e-mails thru the lounge with an attachment.
For those wanting a copy of the Excel Add-in “Chart Data Labels”,
please e-mail me at the following address:
      jim_cone@NOSPAMatt.net (remove the ‘nospam’).
I’ve also attached a slightly revised copy of the Word.doc instructions for new readers of
      this post.

An Excel Add-in I wrote might be of assistance to you.
You can type label titles in adjacent cells on a spreadsheet, format the cells
and then create and add labels automatically to your chart.

I have attached the Word.doc instruction sheet for the add-in (50kb).
It it looks of interest, let me know and I will e-mail the add-in (160kb).

      Clare,

Sounds like you need to “Auto-Fit” the columns.
Select the columns in question then (on the Menu bar) go to: Format | Column | AutoFit Selection.

Not much to go on but…
Are you sure you didn’t create a brand new drop-down thats stacked right on top of
      the old drop down?

    • in reply to: Desktop shortcut link (Excel 97 NT) #604534

On my NT 4.0 system with SP6,
I can right-click a file name in windows explorer,
      select “Send To”
      select “Desktop (create shortcut)”

I have modified my “Send To” menu but believe this option is part
      of the original configuration.

      HansV,

You are probably looking for the Add-in “Morefunc” created by Laurent Longre.
You can get it from his web site at…
      http://longre.free.fr/%5B/url%5D
If you read French you won’t have a problem.

    • in reply to: add button to chart sheet (Excel 2000) #593970

      Deb,

After much searching, the following is from somewhere in the Excel 2002 help file…

      “What the controls can’t do
You cannot use ActiveX controls on chart sheets or XLM macro sheets.
For these situations, use the Forms toolbar controls.
If you want to attach a macro to run directly from a control, use a Forms toolbar control.”

To me ,this says you must use the controls from the Forms toolbar on chart sheets.

    • in reply to: Out of Memory Errors (Office 97 SR-2) #584075

A large number of styles can cause memory problems with Excel.
Almost any format change affects memory.
Take a look at the following link for lots of info on Excel and memory.

      http://www.decisionmodels.com/memlimitsc.htm%5B/url%5D

If you still need it, after reviewing the above , I have an Excel 97 Add-in that removes
custom number formats and styles. Advise if you are interested.

    • in reply to: missing tab on Forms toolbar control (xl2000/sp2) #575370

      Deb,

There are two different sets of controls available for use on an Excel spreadsheet.
1.) Those created by using View|Toolbars|Forms
2.) Those created by using View|Toolbars|Control Toolbox …(active x controls)

      ———————————————————————————
Active x controls do not have a ‘control tab’.
Active x controls are used by writng VBA code.
You cannot assign a macro to them.
There is an entry in the formula bar (similar to your description) when clicked,
      ————————————————————————
Controls from the ‘Forms’ toolbar have a ‘control tab’
Their name shows in the ‘name box’.
You can assign a macro to them.
They are much easier to use on worksheets but not as versatile.
      —————————————————————————————

My suggestion is to delete the problem control(s) and start over using the controls from the “Forms” toolbar.
For more information see “Active x” then “Using ActiveX controls on sheets” in (Excel XP help) or
“Using ActiveX controls on sheets” (Excel 97 vba help).

      Regards,

      Jim Cone
