it is also because during the hardware detection stage of the install if there are any devices that windows has a problem accurately detecting it will cause the install to lock up usually at the 34 minute mark it is best to only have the monitor the mouse and keyboard connected during a clean install

have you tried removing the mouse in the device manager and then rebooting

a dell tech will only come out if there is a hardware problem not for a software problem
but you can call dell tech support for help
even if your warranty has run out dell will still give free phone tech support

do you see the words safe mode in all four corners of the screen
if not reload the video drivers

can you boot the computer
if you can look in device manager to see if the drive is there
if it is delete it and reboot
sometimes this will reinstall the windows drivers for the device that isn’t working right

if this is going over a network i would use universal pathing
server name folder name filename
instead of a drive letter
especially if more than one computer is going to use the database

have you tried running msconfig
you may be able to stop note pad from loading there
i’m running ME and my computer does not do this

zone alarm if you firewall to the internet
if you are online much i would not be without it

have you thought about using a proxy server it worked in my home

you can delete files from your browser
which browser are you using
in netscape 6.1 go to edit – preferences – advanced – cache
here you can delete files from memory or from the hard drive

i use an image frame instead of a bound or unbound object frame
the code to change the picture is
