    • Hi,

      Open Outlook,

Click View menu > Click Status Bar

I think you might have turned this off by accident. Let us know if that solves the issue.

I set the max at 20GB and quit fooling with it.

All I can do is shudder. A 20GB PST file is asking for trouble in my opinion. If you’ve got that much email then it may be an idea to move to an online webmail service like Gmail, Outlook.com or Office 365.

Cannot recommend the tools highly enough I’ve been using them for many years. I’m going to have a browse through these videos and see I learn anything new.

My favourites are autoruns, ProcMon, ProcExplorer, PSexec.

    • in reply to: Is Win7 64-bit possible in VPN within Win7 32-bit OS? #1401400

Can you please provide the specifications of your current PC/Laptop?

If the trial were to work would you add more RAM for the 64 bit OS? (this question may be redundant depending on your hardware specifications)

Unless you have some legacy/badly made software there shouldn’t be any compatibility issues with Win 7 x86 to Win 7 x64. Peripheral hardware may be a different story, some manufacturers don’t have x64 drivers its getting rarer thankfully.

Remember to you can use something like Windows 7 Easy Transfer to help migrate over.

From your initial post it seems you have moved/deleted a PST archive file from the desktop. Outlook is attempting to mount this when it starts but cannot find it.

Read here for a quick reference to un-mounting the offending PST.

    • I would suggest you looking at outsourcing the problematic way you are doing this task. Have a look at MailChimp and those type of services they may be helpful to your cause.

    • in reply to: Delete All button – Outlook 2013 #1401147

I would say it is by design in Outlook 2013. As you’ve seen the “Empty Folder” button replaces the function for those special folders.

I hope the one extra button press to confirm the deletion is the hardest part of your day 🙂

      Hi Paul,

Yes those exist and I don’t like them either. I was more so aiming at the “click me if you’ve received this style link to confirm there is someone on the other end and they agree they still wish to receive mail from the entity. Analytics are an important aspect of any business and as stated by the OP it is a legitimate mailing list

    • in reply to: Using Outlook Calendar on Android? #1400977

      Hi Neal,

I take it you are using Outlook 2010 with a POP3 email account, who is the provider?

Plenty of options (all of which are built into recent Andriod revisions, no apps needed),
Outlook.com (I haven’t tested it personally, but I believe it does calendar sync)
Office 365 with your own domain name
      Google Gmail (free or business)

If you must stick with Outlook 2010 and want full synchronization of email/calendar/life then move to Office 365.

If you are happy to ditch Outlook, it is only software after all. Then migrate to Google Gmail, there used to be an Outlook Gmail sync connector addon but I’m not sure if its available anymore.

POP3 forwarding to the new account or pop3 pull depending on service (office 365 and gmail offer this, outlook/hotmail might do).

      Cheers

Paul is exactly right, email is not a guaranteed delivery system and yes email server admins sometimes turn off NDR notification which is against RFC standards but its done anyway.

If you want to some indication there is intelligence whether it be human or AI on the other end you could setup a web analytics click link in the email.

I would hazard a guess that mrjimphelps is on the money with his explanation and solution. I see this time and time again.

At least in Exchange 2010 / Outlook 2010 and above combinations the autocomplete address list is stored in the exchange mailbox so it follows you.

    • in reply to: Outlook 2007 Second profile or idenity ? #1400970

      Hi Double Tap,

      Open Outlook 2007

Tools > Account Settings > Email Tab

You should see both your Exchange email account and the POP3 account.

Note: Before proceeding you should check your have a PST Folder in the Data Files tab to store your POP3 emails. If not create one.

Highlight the POP3 account and then click on the “Change Folder” in the lower area of the Account settings window.

Select your desired PST folder for incoming email to be stored.

      Enjoy.

    • Hi Dwayne,

Glad you found the culprit to the issue. Sometimes software can react a little erratically when storage devices and drive letters are adjusted. I’m sure you are a lot happier with the performance because as you say the new drive has much more performance potential than the WD green drive ever would. Not to say they are bad just not a performance spec’d device.

      Cheers,
      JDB

    • Indeed it does. Glad you found the post helpful.

If you are purchasing off the shelf you probably won’t be able to get Office 2010 any longer, 2013 has flooded the market.

    • in reply to: Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit 4.0 #1397656

Nice, they have brought this out of Beta.

      Thanks for the tip Bruce.

Everyone should use EMET on their Windows based machines. Older OS such as XP won’t can’t utilise all the protection mechanisms provided by EMET but its still definitely worthwhile.

A primary motivation for most people to use it would be malware mitigation. I’m not saying its a silver bullet but it will definitely help if your browser/adobe reader/adobe flash/java (shudder) are all EMET process aware.

Quick Tip: Once you install it, click Import and select “Popular” + “Recommend” Software. It will add in common software executables for you.
