Thanks so much, but yes, I had downloaded this, but like you I find this far from perfect!

Dave, the show at startup is checked on all PC’s with the problem, and the Show Task Pane is set on the Options, View dialog box. We are just at a loss as to why this happens.

Tony, am I really dumb, What is WOPR? I don’t think we have a word document in the startup directory, but how can I tell? What is the startup directory? I am and OLD user, but sometimes I really don’t understand all I should!! Judy

Thanks Catherine, I didn’t even look in the knowledge base on this one and I usually do. Sorry. I guess I was totally keyed into the Download Viewer button on the Pack and Go dialog box. That is VERY misleading. I need to run this particular show in a kiosk mode at the fair so will have to load XP on the computer, but that’s a pain too. Again, thanks for your prompt response. Judy

Sorry, thought I had enough info on this one, but obviously didn’t. When we send the offending file to offending printer an error code is generated and we need to close Excel, so it appears that the file never reach the printer. The file does print fine to another printer that is local to the offending PC. The printer that is causing the problem is a network printer. We can print other workbooks as well as files from other applications just fine to the offending printer from the offending PC. Hope that helps. Judy

Thanks for your reply and I can see how that would work in most circumstance. With this one I want my student number to become an auto number field, and I would like to maintain the numbers up to point XYZ. Your method gives an entirely new auto number field. I think I probably will just have to live with my current method. Thanks so much, Judy

Thanks for your help. I had already done that, but we are still having problems. The user doesn’t have time to let me play any more right now. So don’t have a real answer yet. It really confuses me that it works fine either way, saving in Word format from WordPerfect or as you suggest copying on my computer. It just isn’t successful on the users PC. Once I can sit down at her PC perhaps I will be able to figure out what is happening. Judy
