Thanks Hans, this worked great.. The only pain about this is that I have to visit all the PC’s that have this problem either by remote logon or in person to effect the change and that is a problem. Any ideas why it wouldn’t have been set right on install?

I’ll check more on how, she’s working, it was through a phone call last week. I understand about the installer running, as it does that on my PC, but on her’s it won’t even do that. Just gets a memory error, which I’m sure is not at issue. More later when I know more!

Thanks Fred for your suggestions. I’ve passed them on to my user. She might like to use conditional formatting as well. I tried to get her to just use it, but that wasn’t enough for her. Appreciate you going the extra mile on this one to give options,

Once again, you save my brain from working too hard! You are appreciated. Your solution works wonderfully well. Judy

Thanks much for your help. I can see where your IF statement would work, but I tried Hans and it works like a charm and is much less typing. Thanks again,

Thanks John, I’ll show my user how to create this kind of query. Your effort is much appreciated.

Thanks for catching me on the form/report issue. I know the difference and I really mean report, but typed form! Oh, well. We tried what you mentioned, but the problem ended up being a few fields on the report that were basically on the same line as the one we wanted to Shrink. So they’ll have to live with it the way it is! If they delete the fields from the report that are on the right side of the report all works well. Thanks for you help on this one!

Thanks, Hans. It works like a charm, and is soon going to become one of my favorite things in Word! You’ve made me a hero and made my day!

    • in reply to: Legal Pleading Header (Word 2003) #1036810

Thanks lots, I had been doing that, but applying it just to the section which didn’t work. I realized after going down this trial that I was getting some leftover strange formats from a copy from WordPerfect that dealt with right margins. I continue the project, but was cognizant of margin settings and removed all special ones in WordPerfect before doing the copy and it worked like a charm. Again, thank to everyone….

OK, I reattached the attachment. Think it was lost because I didn’t do it before a preview. Thanks and will appreciate any help you can give me on this one. There is no section that I can see besides the ones I need I’ll look for a white text box.

I’m working on a template for our DA’s office and have come upon a problem that I can’t understand how to fix. I am attaching an excerpted file so you’ll see what is happening. I have the legal pleading all set and it working OK, until one page where the margins change and everything shifts to the right. I can’t see anything in page setup that would cause this. I’ve tried redoing the legal pleading, etc. to no avail. What am I doing wrong that the lines and everything would shift. I am sure I checked out odd/even issues. Thanks, and again this is just an excerpt of a much longer document. I’ve added the next all by pasting it in location. Your thought and ideas are most welcome.

    • in reply to: Strikethrough on Toolbar (20003 SP2) #1035739

Thanks Hans, It was a corrupt normal.dot. I should have thought about that, but so it goes! Appreciate the tip and should remember to go to that step by step procedure cause it’s helped me in the past with strange occurences. Judy

    • in reply to: Strikethrough on Toolbar (20003 SP2) #1035584

I’m using the built-in button from the customize format commands, and it doesn’t work at all. I can add it to a toolbar for instance the formatting toolbar, but it doesn’t initialize when clicked. All the other buttons that work as this one should are shaded until they are turned off. Strike through just doesn’t work. I tried creating a custom one by creating a macro with a keyboard command and it doesn’t work either. Hope that answers your questions, Hans. I think it might be just my computer that isn’t working correctly, but I can’t figure out why. Thanks,

    • in reply to: Mail Merge Data Source Connection (Word 2003) #1026655

Thanks, I already read the last knowledgebase article and it isn’t a fix we want to apply given the location of these users. I’ll dry a different document. Will let you know how it goes…

    • in reply to: Mail Merge Data Source Connection (Word 2003) #1026646

Thanks for writing Hans. This document is not a rich text and never was. Do you think it might be helpful if I do a cut and paste and start over with the document. Again, this is a merge document that will be used over and over again. It’s in or DA’s office and is a Misdemeanor Warrant for arrest, so might be used daily! All the documents are saved in the template folder so the user can just click file new and pick from the merge templates. Thanks,
