Thanks, Joe. I should have put that as my first sentence instead of the last! Yes, I did do that and it worked better for a time. I noticed that the compatibility pack was still on the PC so removed it. Also ran the installer update fix and then read the note at the bottom that it shouldn’t be run on Office 2007! Anyway reloaded Office 207 and it’s working OK now, But am still not sure whether it’ll be a long-term solution. It worked for awhile after I reinstalled before. Thanks again for your help, Joe

Thanks, that might have worked for me too. If it ever happens again, I’ll try that. I had already recreated this one even though it had a long confidentiality statement. I just didn’t want to hassle it any longer. Sometimes we get to that point. Appreciate your thoughts on this one,

Thanks Hans, once again your solution worked like a charm my user loved the end result. You rock!

    • in reply to: Office Defaults on New PC’s (2007) #1133146

Maybe I”m not explaining myself very well. It’s not the task bar quick launch, but the one inside of the Office 2007 applications, the one that is part of the the Title Bar, I guess it is called the Quick Access Bar. That’s the one that didn’t seem to copy over when I copied the Application DataMicrosoft from the old PC. Thanks, Judy

    • in reply to: Creating Form Macro for Toolbar (2007) #1126793

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded and unzipped the second WHile You Were Out form and it’s very nice. However, the task remains on writing the Script to get it to a toolbar so users can use a one click to get to it. Thanks for the help in locating this template.

You are so right. Thanks, Why didn’t I think of that? Guess I didn’t even consider that there was a fill. I tried background, but fill was it. Thanks again ever so much, you are the best!

    • in reply to: Changing Envelope Printing Default Settings (2007) #1122213

I”m excited. I know it doesn’t take much to excite me, but… I found a solution to this problem. Microsoft definitely has a problem with this one. The Envelope Default button, just doesn’t work; however, here’s a work around. Click on the Sytles dialog box icon (I think that’s what it’s called–the little box in the lower right-hand corner of the styles box on the home ribbon. Select manage styles at the bottom of the styles box. Scroll down until you see the Envelope, Address style. Select it, click on modify, change the font to your desired font, check New documents based on this template and click OK. Your default envelope style has been changed. My people are SO happy with this option. the inability to change envelope default has been a major irritant for them!

    • in reply to: Windows Update Failure (Windows XP) #1117289

Scott, I appreciate your response. I remember reading that publication now, but on neither of these PC’s did I do a repair, but obviously something trigered the registration of those DLL. My best guess is something in the SP 3 download, because on both of the PC”s I’d just done an update to SP3. Live and learn I guess. Thanks again, Judy

Thanks, Leif and Bob, I’d already gone through the history etc. Here’s the answer, it came from another forum and works like a charm. Just thought you’d all like to know. I don’t know the whys, but I have the FIX and that’s all that matters,

Copy and paste the following to Notepad and save as UpdaterFix.bat then double click it:

      regsvr32 /s wuapi.dll
      regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
      regsvr32 /s wuaueng.dll
      regsvr32 /s wucltui.dll
      regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
      regsvr32 /s wups.dll
      regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll

Thanks guys, appreciate your response. Judy

    • in reply to: ODBC Query Timing Out Access 2007 (Office 2007) #1112212

Thanks for the advice Hans. Nothing seemed to work, but as a last resort we blew our users profile away in Windows and let it recreate on login. That worked well so just copied over the bear minium of things from the old profile. All seems to work fine a week later! Guess as a last resort we should consider profile problems, because I’ve seen it before, but just didn’t think it would be so in this situation. Appreciate you efforts on our behalf.

    • Thanks Hans. We are using it with Exchange Server, but it still happens. I’ll have to get used to the undisclosed recipients user trick for large distribution lists–just not something we had to do in GroupWise.

    • I’d already read that portion, but unless I’m missing something, everytime I add the list to the to cc the entire list of names shows. I want just the name of the distribution list to show, nothing that shows all the members names because the list is too long. I may be blind, but I can’t figure this one out. Thanks Hans.

    • in reply to: Template Locations (2007) #1077171

Hans already answered with a .dotm is, but I tried a .dotx with the same results the default folder does not change. Have you installed some updates I don’t know about.? It definitely doesn’t work on my Software Select Version nor any of our other installed PC’s.

    • in reply to: Setting Default Indent (Word 2007) #1077065

Once again it worked like a charm, you are the best! We keep trying to save it to the normal template, but it wouldn’t save just when we saved. Judy

    • in reply to: Automatic Date in Word 2007 (Word 2007) #1076695

Thanks Peter, and this would work great, but both require the removal of your hands from the keyboard and for a “real” typist–not me!. That slows them down terribly. It that that insert date is a problem, it is that auto date as you type doesn’t work. I’ll try your solution on my PC. Hans solution works so will do that to all these PC’s, but sure can’t understand why a feature thats supposed to work doesn’t without intervention–a Microsoft issue I’m sure.
